Subtle Breathtaking Bouquet on Vellum

The colors of this card are totally opposite of yesterday’s rich, dark tones. This is a light, pretty card that reminds me of bunnies and weddings. Yeah…I know…where do I come up with this stuff? This card focuses on the background. The stamp is called Breathtaking Bouquet and is in the 2020 Spring Mini catalog. I won it at a Stampin’ Up event and wasn’t really sure what to do with it. I searched online and decided I really liked it embossed. I chose to emboss it on a Petal Pink piece of vellum from the Perennial Essence Vellum cardstock in the Annual Catalog. I used the Stamparatus positioning tool so that I could make sure the Versamark ink got everywhere it should. Sprinkled on the White embossing powder…hit it with the heat tool…and voila! A stunning background for a lovely Birthday card. The sentiment is from the set Magnolia Blooms, which is actually not in the catalog, but a brochure called Experience Creativity (you can see the PDF on my Catalogs tab). It coordinates perfectly with the Good Morning Magnolia suite. That is stamped on a scrap piece of Whisper White, die cut with a circle and layered on a piece of Petal Pink punched with Label Me Lovely. A simple double ribbon and an accent of a silver Designer Element finish off the card.

Not a Team Player Today!

So I actually AM a team player, but had to title today’s card this. Why? Because both the front and inside sentiments are actually only half of the stamps. I made this card for my boss’ Birthday, but not in time to take it to work for the rest of the department to sign. So, had to leave that part off. Then, when deciding on the inside sentiment, I chose to use only part of that as well. It was super easy – I just placed a sticky note over the part I didn’t want to show up. Inked it up, removed the sticky note, and voila! Below the card photos are the complete stamp sets. I just love these! I can’t stand how stinkin’ cute the office chair is. Ok. I’ll admit it. I wanted the set just for that one stamp. And check out the sentiments in Here’s a Card. Some of them are downright hilarious! Definitely my kind of stamp sets. And if you look closely, the Night of Navy cardstock layer is embossed with the Subtle 3D folder to emulate the fabric on a real chair. Details Details!

Vintage Happy Birthday with Ranger UTEP

Vintage Happy Birthday

Hmmm…what is UTEP you might be asking yourself as you scratch your head. Well, let me tell you! It stands for Ultra Thick Embossing Powder and it gives the same effect that Crystal Effects used to! I discovered this awesome product while watching a card making video. The powder has large crystals, so it can be a little messy…just remember to heat from the underside so the crystals don’t fly away! It’s a Ranger product and I was able to find it at Michael’s craft store.
Ranger UTEP
It’s a beautiful effect on the Happy Birthday Thinlits die. I made this card for a certain daughter who loves photography and aquamarine shades. I felt like going with a little vintage feel. I think she liked it.

JOS Color Challenge

I have spoken previously about a fun Facebook group I belong to – The Joy of Sets. Fiona, the administrator, conducted polls for everyone to vote on their favorite colors in each Stampin’ Up color family. After the results, she challenged everyone to make a card using all 5 colors. Here were the top 5:

jos color challenge
It’s super cold here in Southwest Michigan right now and I have basically been hibernating under my blankie on the couch, watching too much TV. Hunter said she wanted to take on the challenge, so she got me off the couch and into the stamping room. Once I started, I really enjoyed spending some stamping time with her. I decided to ink up two new sets from the 2019 Occasions catalog – Bloom by Bloom and Itty Bitty Birthdays. You can never have too many flower or Birthday stamps. I die cut an oval out of some scrap paper and used that as my mask. I had planned on using my new Shimmery Embossing Paste I received today, but it was frozen. Seriously. Sponging was the next best idea, which I did using Pool Party. Then I spritzed on some Lemon Lime Twist. The card came together pretty fast after that and I can’t believe how easy it was to put these 5 colors together. Fun!

Birthday Happiness

A friend of mine has her Birthday the day after Christmas. Her favorite colors are pastel pink and blue and I wanted to make sure her Birthday card was soft and pretty. I decided to use the November 2018 limited edition Happiness Surrounds stamp set and Snowfall Thinlits Dies. It’s so awesome how they coordinate! My friend let me know she received her card…and thanked me for adding in a cardstock insert to protect the embellishments. The post office destroyed the envelope and paper insert, but thankfully the card itself made it through undamaged! So that is your friendly PSA today. Protect your cards when mailing!
Birthday Happiness
Here’s a close up so you can see the texture on the Pool Party layer. This texture is created using the Subtle Dynamic Embossing Folder. Today’s card is the third one in a row I’m sharing with you that uses this folder. I have definitely gotten my money’s worth! This close up also shows the effect from the Wink of Stella that I added to the Blushing Bride flowers. So soft and pretty.

Bright Sea of Googlie Eyes

What’s the best embellishment for a child’s Birthday card? Googlie Eyes, of course! They make this otherwise “typical” looking octopus into quite a goofy one. I crack up every time I look at it. I think a special little 2 year old is going to giggle, too!

Tranquil Buffalo

Another first inking of a stamp from the Holiday Catalog. This Buffalo Check background stamp is so much fun! It reminds me of all the plaid flannel shirts my dad had. And I’m going to take a brief moment to show one of my favorite photos of my 3 children and my niece. We were visiting my niece and all 4 of them just happened to put on plaid shirts the same day! Kinda scary, huh?

Tranquil Buffalo Cousins
This card is a quick and easy one that will have no problems being sent to a friend in Canada. I try to make cards as flat as possible when sending them outside the U.S. To keep it special, I added some of the silver stars from the Twinkle Adhesive Backed Sequins pack. I love doubling up on the Happy Birthday die cut and having the bottom dark color off-set to look like a shadow.

Gorgeous Glittery Grape for Grace

Today’s card is all about Miss Grace and her favorite color purple. She’s a sweet little girl celebrating her Birthday and I just love using glitter for little girls. Yes…parents just LOVE me. But, since Stampin’ Up doesn’t have any purple glimmer paper, I had to make my own.  I used a sponge dauber and sponged Highland Heather onto the Sparkle Glimmer Paper and turned it into a yummy cupcake!

Gorgeous Glittery Grape for Grace close up

The Coffee Cups framelits include a die that doubles as either a cup sleeve or corrugated cupcake liner as well as a die that doubles as both froth and a frosted cupcake top! I finished it off with the Gorgeous Grape Mini Striped Ribbon, which happens to be one of my faves, and a few Glitter Enamel Dots. Happy Birthday, Grace!

Celebrate Springtime Butterfly with Brusho

Oh how I wish I could photograph properly – the red on this card is positively VIBRANT! With this one, I used watercolor paper and brushed on a layer of water using my Aqua Painter. Then I sprinkled on the Brusho Crystal Colours in Red and brushed the entire piece with even more water. Pure color saturation! The butterfly is from a new set called Springtime Impressions Thinlits. Using the Precision Base Plate with the Big Shot produces perfect cutting every time. I popped it up using the Mini Dimensionals and the “Celebrate” sentiment, which is glued down with Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive, is in the Celebrate You Thinlits set. Black Faceted Dots give it that little hint of bling.  Mounted on a Thick Whisper White card base so it can handle the weight of the watercolor paper. Simply striking! You simply must see it in person! Come to my Catalog Kick-Off Party on June 23rd!
