So Very Vellum Soft Sympathy

Today’s card is a very soft Sympathy card. I used the set called Positive Thoughts in the Spring Mini Catalog on page 23 and was able to die cut the leaves and butterfly using the now retired Nature’s Thoughts Dies. Everything is layered on the Soft Sea Foam vellum sheet that is embossed with dots. I wanted ribbon to match, so I used some reinker drops to dye the Whisper White ribbon with So Saffron. It’s an easy way to create coordinating, colored ribbon. Put 20-25 drops of reinker into a glass jar filled with enough water to immerse the ribbon in.  Push the ribbon in, making sure it is completely immersed, then put the lid on and let the magic happen. The longer you let it soak and the more ink you use, the more vibrant it will be. I let this one sit overnight. Then take it out and let it air dry on a paper plate. Easy peasy!

Subtle Breathtaking Bouquet on Vellum

The colors of this card are totally opposite of yesterday’s rich, dark tones. This is a light, pretty card that reminds me of bunnies and weddings. Yeah…I know…where do I come up with this stuff? This card focuses on the background. The stamp is called Breathtaking Bouquet and is in the 2020 Spring Mini catalog. I won it at a Stampin’ Up event and wasn’t really sure what to do with it. I searched online and decided I really liked it embossed. I chose to emboss it on a Petal Pink piece of vellum from the Perennial Essence Vellum cardstock in the Annual Catalog. I used the Stamparatus positioning tool so that I could make sure the Versamark ink got everywhere it should. Sprinkled on the White embossing powder…hit it with the heat tool…and voila! A stunning background for a lovely Birthday card. The sentiment is from the set Magnolia Blooms, which is actually not in the catalog, but a brochure called Experience Creativity (you can see the PDF on my Catalogs tab). It coordinates perfectly with the Good Morning Magnolia suite. That is stamped on a scrap piece of Whisper White, die cut with a circle and layered on a piece of Petal Pink punched with Label Me Lovely. A simple double ribbon and an accent of a silver Designer Element finish off the card.

Grateful for Praiseworthy Prose

The Praiseworthy Prose bundle on page 109 of the Annual Catalog pairs a sweet stamp set with a great alphabet die set. You can never have too many alphabet dies! This thank you card uses the “g” die cut out and popped up on dimensionals on a piece of Vellum cardstock that has been punched out and embossed. I think it’s pretty how the Lovely Lipstick ribbon can be seen behind it. I was able to hide the adhesive on the vellum by only using it where the “g” is. I just adore this Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper from the 2020 Sale-a-Bration brochure and am on my second pack. I finished the card off with some of the Pretty Peacock colored rhinestones from the Noble Peacock Rhinestones pack. Love that color so much!

Color Inspiration from Sydney Joy

I was scrolling through Facebook yesterday and happened upon a photo that an awesome photographer posted. Here’s the link to her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/kariizmaphotography/

Sydneys Inspiration Photo

As soon as I saw it, I thought out loud, “What a gorgeous color combination! I’m going to make a floral card in those colors!” (Yes I have permission from her to post her photo…if you don’t know, she’s my talented daughter.) Here’s the color palette, if you’d like to Pin it for future reference:Sydneys Color Palette

I decided to use lots of new products I recently purchased. There is a large magnolia suite in the Annual Catalog, but many people may not be aware that there is a smaller, coordinating one in the Experience Creativity Beginner’s Brochure called Magnolia Blooms. It’s geared towards people that are new to stamping, but that doesn’t mean avid stampers can’t use the products, too. Click here to see the brochure.

This inspiration and color palette just sings “wedding” to me, so I wanted to work in some vellum. I ran a layer piece through the die cutting machine with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder. I die cut the gorgeous frame with the Petal Labels Dies out of Mint Macaron and the magnolia is colored with Stampin’ Blends markers. It was missing something from the Mint Macaron layer, so I asked Hunter what she thought it needed. Why do I even bother asking? Her answer for almost everything is to sponge it! So, that’s what I did. I love the extra texture from it. I finished it off with Pearl Basic Jewels colored with the Bronze and Petal Pink Blends and I decided to use the gorgeous Petal Pink Variegated Ribbon that retired from the Occasions Catalog in the spring…but I’ll bet there are lots of you that have it because it was a best-seller.

#JOSTTT006 June Challenge – Perennial Beauty

Time for a new monthly challenge over at The Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe challenge blog (check it out here)! I was super excited to be named one of their top 3 for last month’s May challenge. (You can see my entry here.)JOSTTT Top 3Here’s the #JOSTTT006 June Challenge:#JOSTTT006I did the second row: Pattern Paper – Banner – Floral

I am featuring items from the Perennial Essence Suite on pages 106-107 of the new Annual Catalog. This Designer Series Paper…Oh My! It is beyond beautiful! I kept the card simple to highlight this gorgeous paper. The Vellum cardstock is soft and pretty and the Floral Centers are amazing! Just like it’s from a real flower! Wrap it all up with the coordinating Perennial Flower Punch and you have a quick and easy card.

I first stamped the sentiment in Crushed Curry and I really liked it since it’s the same color as the Floral Center. However, when I showed it to Queen Hunter, she said she would prefer it stamped in Blackberry Bliss. Hence, two cards showing both options.

Gingham Easter Lilies

I had to wait to share this until after Easter so that the people receiving them wouldn’t see them ahead of time. Even though Easter is over, you can still make these cards…just change the sentiment to whatever you need. Even though some of these products are from Sale-a-Bration and are no longer available, I know several people that have these items. If you weren’t able to get your hands on them, you can always substitute with products you already have.

Gingham Easter Lilies
I have always loved the look of vellum on cards. So reminiscent of the cards I used to receive as a child from my mother. She knew how much I loved the crinkly sound of it. These cards use the soft, pretty colors from the Gingham Gala 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper Stack (available in the Occasions catalog) as my inspiration. I glued the lilies and sentiment onto the vellum, then placed adhesive onto the back of the vellum on the spots where the lilies and sentiments are. This way, when gluing the vellum layer onto the DSP, no adhesive shows through. I hope everyone liked the colors I chose for them!

As promised, here’s another color scheme with the same basic layout as yesterday’s card. This stamp set is so pretty and I’m so glad I gave in and got the suite.  Hunter said she liked the Gorgeous Grape card from yesterday more, but I feel drawn to this pretty Mango Melody flowers.
