Shimmery Farmhouse Tree

I can never express fully the complete love I have for the Shimmer Paints. I spritzed the Vegas Gold onto the Mossy Meadow cardstock before die cutting out the Christmas trees. It is so beyond gorgeousness! I decided to keep the embellishments to a minimum to maximize the shimmer. The adorably tiny Metallic Pearls are perfect!

Best Birds Poignant Thank You

My sweet daughter wanted to make a thank you card for a special person in her life (no, not me this time). It didn’t take her very long to choose the Best Birds set and she knew she wanted to use the Stampin’ Blends. The sentiment is from a retired set, but it is such a poignant one that was perfect for the occasion. The inside reads, “Always kind, Always giving, Always there”. I know this brought tears to the recipient’s eyes. Just lovely. It is so beautiful, I told her I was sneaking a photo and was going to post it on my blog. If only you could see it in real life…

Karma Chameleon for Hunter

My daughter just loves Culture Club’s Karma Chameleon, so as soon as I saw the One in a Chameleon set from Lawn Fawn, there was no other option! Of course, after I made this cute 3” x 3” note for her, I had a V-8 head-smacking moment. I should’ve made the card RED, GOLD & GREEN! Those of you that know the song are laughing along with me right now! It doesn’t matter what color, though, because this chameleon is a cutie pie. I added some Wink of Stella to give it a little extra sparkle. And you can never go wrong with a googlie eye! She loved it, of course.

A Bushel & A Peck…Along Memory Lane

Lawn Fawn continuously makes me chuckle with their super adorable, super fun, super punny stamp sets. And I love that they all have matching dies, too. When my children were little, I used to sing “A Bushel and a Peck” to them every night as I put them to bed. As soon as I discovered the Thanks a Bushel set with that sentiment on it, there was not a full second that elapsed before clicking the “add to cart” button. I probably smashed it, actually. I anxiously awaited the order. Then, they came out with the Caramel Apple set. OMGoodness! How perfect! A girl card each for Sydney and Hunter and a boy card for Marcus. Love Love Love!

It’s Hard to Say Goodbye Cat Sympathy

A friend asked me to make a card for her to give to one of her friends that recently had to put down their furry little guy. I decided to make two cards for her to choose from and used opposite colors. I sponged Dapper Denim and Memento Tuxedo Black on scrap Whisper White, then punched out a 2 ½” circle. The cat die is from Poppystamps and it is popped up with Dimensionals. I tried using the Dapper Demin Enamel heart on both, but it faded into the background against the banner of Dapper Denim, so I used the Dark Basic Black Stampin’ Blends marker to color it black. Not a typical color for a heart, but I felt it was ok on this. The Simple Stripes Embossing Folder gives the perfect subtle background. The inside of the cards read, “It’s hard to say Goodbye to such a Special Companion.”

Rooted in Retirement

Today’s card is a pretty Retirement card. I don’t brush the dust off my Basket Weave Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder nearly often enough. It makes a lovely background against the tree. And did you look closely at the tree? I used the brush end of the Stampin’ Write markers and colored the leaves first in Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive. Then I added highlights of Mossy Meadow by using the Thumping Technique. It’s such an easy technique. I literally just randomly dabbed the marker onto it. Makes such a pretty watercolor look!

Bright Sea of Googlie Eyes

What’s the best embellishment for a child’s Birthday card? Googlie Eyes, of course! They make this otherwise “typical” looking octopus into quite a goofy one. I crack up every time I look at it. I think a special little 2 year old is going to giggle, too!

Wishing You Merlot Glimmer Greetings

The stamp set used on today’s card is called Wishing You Well. It’s hidden on page 35 of the Holiday catalog. I say “hidden” because it’s one of those sets that I skimmed right past without really looking at it. Most likely because of the quiet tones used in the sample. But, as it usually goes with me, I started seeing such pretty cards online. The more ideas I saw, the more I wanted it. And so it goes…

Wishing You Well is part of Stampin’ Up!’s line of Distinktive Stamps. These stamps create different opacities in a single stamped image for realistic depth and intensity. This really shines through with the organza style bow. Simply beautiful and so easy to achieve! Another nice feature of this stamp set is that it can be used all year round – the sprig can be stamped in Crushed Curry to resemble wheat or it can be stamped in any shade of green and bright flowers can be added. So many possibilities with this one beautiful set!
Wishing You WellI decided to go bold with this card and I must say I am absolutely smitten with the gorgeous, deep tones of the Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper. It brings such a richness to any project. The Joyous Noel Suite can be found on pages 28-29. I initially ordered just the glimmer paper from this suite, but since then have also ordered the coordinating Specialty Designer Series Paper, Merry Merlot & Copper Ribbon, and the Sprig Punch. Can’t wait to get those in my hands! But, since I don’t have those products yet, I decided to use the Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper, which is part of the suite on pages 12-13.
Wishing You Merlot Glimmer Greetings
I also chose to use the Metallic Pearls as the perfect details for the wreath. They are tiny, but easy to add to the project with our Take Your Pick tool using the spatula option.
Take Your Pick ToolThis is such a quick and easy card – no Big Shot necessary, as the bow is fussy-cut by hand the circle is a punch. Now you have no excuses not to send out hand-made-with-love cards this season. I hope you’ve had a chance to look through the Holiday catalog and get some of the products into your hands – Christmas will be here in 53 days!

Velvet Snowflakes against Granite

Snowflake Showcase Banner
Stampin’ Up has a limited time offer of a unique new coordinating suite called Snowflake Showcase available beginning today, November 1 through 30 or while supplies last. Why is this suite of products unique? Because there are images and dies that can be used for almost any occasion and any time of the year! There are two stamp sets – Snow is Glistening and Happiness Surrounds, along with the coordinating Snowfall Thinlits Dies, Snowflake Trinkets, and White Velvet Paper. Each item is sold separately so you can mix and match!

For this card, I chose to go the opposite of my last super bright card. This one is more calming and makes me think of softly falling snow in the early evening. I used the wonderfully soft White Velvet Paper for the snowflakes and kept this card demure.
