Proud Peacock for the June JOS Blog Hop!

June 2019 Banner
It’s time for another The Joy of Sets Blog Hop and the theme for June is Something New! You can click on the links at the end of the post to see everyone’s exciting contributions.

When I found out the theme of this hop, I didn’t have to think twice. When the Stampin’ Up! 2019-2020 Annual Catalog was released, I just about screamed with happiness when I spied the Noble Peacock Suite on pages 24-25. You may ask why? And with resounding giddiness in my voice, I will tell you it’s because of the colors! Blues and greens make my heart so happy! And for there to not only be Specialty Designer Series Paper with foil accents, but full 12” x 12” foil sheets as well? HELLO HAPPINESS! This card uses every single item in the entire suite (stamp set is used on the inside) and I couldn’t be happier!

Proud Peacock

I’m also going to regale you with the hilarious coincidence that the very day my order was received with all these goodies, I just happened to be at someone’s home where I saw this!

Pocket Full of Springtime Posies

I am in love with the soft lavender shade of the new In Color Purple Posy. I was saddened to find out that we currently are unable to order Purple Posy Classic Ink Pads or Ink Refills. I had to wait until the catalog release to order the color in the Stampin’ Blends alcohol ink Marker and Stampin’ Write Marker. I’m so thankful we can at least use these for coloring and stamping. I’m also thankful that Stampin’ Up is committed to bringing us top-notch, quality products and aren’t settling for anything subpar. I’m sure the manufacturer will get the ink pads and ink refills up to standard so we can then purchase them. In the meantime, it’s the old-fashioned way of stamping – using the Stampin’ Write Marker directly onto the stamp. I find the quality is just fine when using red rubber stamps. This is how I was able to stamp the sentiment on this card. I used the Stampin’ Blends Marker to color the Pearl Basic Jewels so they would match. I thought out of the box with the Scalloped Linen Ribbon and cut the Purple Posy edging away from the linen in the center. Look closely and you’ll see that the Basic Black layer has been dry embossed with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder. I just love how the Purple Posy pops on the black background. And tell me again why I so rarely use the Springtime Impressions dies? So pretty!

#JOSTTT006 June Challenge – Perennial Beauty

Time for a new monthly challenge over at The Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe challenge blog (check it out here)! I was super excited to be named one of their top 3 for last month’s May challenge. (You can see my entry here.)JOSTTT Top 3Here’s the #JOSTTT006 June Challenge:#JOSTTT006I did the second row: Pattern Paper – Banner – Floral

I am featuring items from the Perennial Essence Suite on pages 106-107 of the new Annual Catalog. This Designer Series Paper…Oh My! It is beyond beautiful! I kept the card simple to highlight this gorgeous paper. The Vellum cardstock is soft and pretty and the Floral Centers are amazing! Just like it’s from a real flower! Wrap it all up with the coordinating Perennial Flower Punch and you have a quick and easy card.

I first stamped the sentiment in Crushed Curry and I really liked it since it’s the same color as the Floral Center. However, when I showed it to Queen Hunter, she said she would prefer it stamped in Blackberry Bliss. Hence, two cards showing both options.

Layers of Kitty Hellos

Aren’t these kitties just too cute? It’s one of those stamp sets I rarely turn to. Why? I have no idea. These kitties make me smile. I used some retired (ret) Designer Series Paper that I was hoarding and the card came together quite quickly. I couldn’t decide which color I liked best for the kitties, so I tried out a few options. I’m leaning towards the gray, but would’ve liked it a little lighter. You can’t see it in the photo, but all the flowers have Wink of Stella on them. The shimmer is so pretty in real life. Next time I feel like coloring, I will dust off the coordinating set Bella & Friends and color in some cute puppies!

Everything is Rosy Thinking of You

From the moment I set my eyes on the Everything is Rosy product medley, I was in love. The Night of Navy ribbon edged in metallic Rose Gold and the Designer Paper with all the Rose Gold foiling is so beyond gorgeous. I have seen a lot of samples online, but have not seen one yet that included the Rose Gold Shimmer Paint. That paint becomes absolutely magical when you add it to a Stampin’ Spritzer with some isopropyl rubbing alcohol! I covered the Night of Navy layer in spritzes of shimmer. The kit comes with Rose Gold adhesive backed mirror embellishments, but I decided to use my hand-held paper punch (it’s a really old one from my junk drawer) and punched circles out of the Rose Gold Foil Paper after die cutting out the gorgeous leaf spray. Can you see the Rose Gold foiling on the Designer Series Paper sheet? That foiling is on one side of every sheet! I am in love with the Night of Navy ribbon, but since the background layer is that color, I decided to play it up with the lovely Melon Mambo Ruched Ribbon. It is so soft and easy to work with. I was able to tie a bow on my first try! There are several sweet sentiments to choose from in the stamp set (see below), but I chose to use one from the Paper Pumpkin kit Friends of a Feather (October 2018) because I’m sending this to a sweet person that needs some cheering up.

Everything is Rosy Thinking of You

Classic Class of 2019

I was commissioned to make a card for a college graduate. Back when my middle child graduated High School, Stampin’ Up! offered a “Class of 2015” stamp. Obviously after using it for that occasion, it started collecting dust. I spied it and thought, “Hey! I should cut the stamp apart!” And that is what I did. I finally thought outside the box. I also decided to use gold foil for the year and I think it is a great fit with this card. I used a little-known die from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits collection that cuts a series of small circles. Using this on the gold foil paper made the circles look like metal brads and I just love the effect! The Take Your Pick Tool was a lifesaver in picking up those little circles and placing them on the glue dots.
