Field Journal Watercolor Mallard

I am so excited to share this card with you today. It uses a bunch of products from the new Annual Catalog. I wanted to use the mallard in the Field Journal stamp set, but couldn’t figure out exactly how to lay out the card. I knew I wanted woodsy and a little masculine, so those thoughts were in my head as I paged through the catalog looking at the samples. As soon as I saw the card on page 33, I knew I was going to CASE it! (Copy and Share Everything)

I used the Stamparatus to stamp the mallard onto Watercolor Paper because I knew I’d need to reink and stamp 2 to 3 times to get a good impression since the paper is highly textured. I then squeezed my ink pads while closed, then opened and used the small pool of ink with the Water Painters to color the mallard.

There are 3 new In Colors on this card, too, and they are simply beautiful! The mallard piece is layered onto Cinnamon Cider, I die cut the cattails out of Just Jade, and the ribbon is Bumblebee. The final touch is cropping the ends of the sentiment banner with the new Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. Happiness!

Here’s my card:

Tasteful Touches of Gold

I’m still recuperating from my latest ankle surgery, but was able to play with some of the new products. Oh my! I just love the color combination of the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper. And pairing it with Gold Foil Sheets elevates it. The Gilded Gems are the perfect gold accents. Such a pretty card! Big thank you to my mom, who bought the Forever Greenery Suite for me and to Hunter for convincing me I needed more leaves!

Make the World a Better Place

I am sorry that it’s been so long since my last post. I had another ankle surgery and I’ve been down for the count. I am in a monthly card swapping group and needed to get cards made for them. I wanted to use all new goodies from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. I also wanted to make them encouraging cards…the front sentiment is, “You make the World a better place” and the inside sentiment reads, “Thank you for being part of mine.”  Hunter helped me design the card, including using the wood grain DSP for the globe base and the strip of Early Espresso for the Faux Suede Trim and Antiqued Slide.  I must say…using the Brass Foil Sheets for the globe die cut was awesome – it adds the perfect touch of class! I am in love with all of the new goodies!

COVID-19 Sharing Sunshine in my Jammies

During these uncertain times, it’s always nice to remind someone that they are loved and missed…and to #sharesunshine with them. Sara Douglass, Stampin’ Up CEO posted this:

COVID-19 Jammies

These cards feature one of the sentiments from the Share Sunshine PDF. I tried making it look like a jammie top with the small gingham. For the buttons, I decided to go with some very old Corduroy Buttons that haven’t been available for over a decade. They are brads, so I just used my jewelry wire cutters to cut off the prongs and adhered them with glue dots. Easy peasy and so stinkin’ cute! The card above has already been received by a special someone and the one below will find its way to its recipient tomorrow!

Saying Goodbye with a Fun Fold

We are still on lockdown here in Michigan, so I’ve been using my time wisely – stamping and watching videos of stamping.  And that is how I came across this video by Julie Davison where she demonstrates this super fun flip fold card. I wanted to give a nice send off to some retiring products, so I used Lovely Lipstick cardstock, ink, blends, and ribbon, the Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper, and the Tufted 3D Embossing Folder.  I just love how rich this card feels pairing Lovely Lipstick with Rich Razzleberry. Be sure to stock up on the retiring In Colors!

How Sweet Animation Is for The Joy of Sets April Blog Hop!

April 2020

Hello to those hopping over from Tricia Butts‘s blog! I just love the monthly The Joy of Sets Blog Hop! Scroll to the end to see the complete list of bloggers. Our theme this month is Birthdays. A special lady in my life will be turning 77 at the end of this month, so she is my inspiration for this card, too, just like she was for last month’s!

How Sweet Animation Is

With all the down time we have right now, I’ve been watching a LOT of crafters on YouTube. To my amazement, I discovered a product that has been around about 3 years, but I hadn’t seen it until now. Animation stamps! They are so cool! The stamp set and grid I used are from Uchi’s Designs. There are several videos you can view to learn more about them.

With this being my first dive into animation stamps, I will tell you the third time’s the charm. The first “pocket” I made, I didn’t glue my flaps on correctly. On the second try, the pouch was a little too puckered. But with the third time, I finally got it right! Check it out!

Card Recipe
Stamp Sets: Happy Birthday (Uchi’s Design), Push Here (Lawn Fawn)
Cardstock: Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo
Designer Series Paper: How Sweet It Is (retired)
Specialty: Animation Grid (Uchi’s Design)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Love: Glitter Enamel Dots
Tools: Stitched Rectangle Dies, Circle Tab Punch, Detailed Trio Punch

So Very Vellum Soft Sympathy

Today’s card is a very soft Sympathy card. I used the set called Positive Thoughts in the Spring Mini Catalog on page 23 and was able to die cut the leaves and butterfly using the now retired Nature’s Thoughts Dies. Everything is layered on the Soft Sea Foam vellum sheet that is embossed with dots. I wanted ribbon to match, so I used some reinker drops to dye the Whisper White ribbon with So Saffron. It’s an easy way to create coordinating, colored ribbon. Put 20-25 drops of reinker into a glass jar filled with enough water to immerse the ribbon in.  Push the ribbon in, making sure it is completely immersed, then put the lid on and let the magic happen. The longer you let it soak and the more ink you use, the more vibrant it will be. I let this one sit overnight. Then take it out and let it air dry on a paper plate. Easy peasy!
