Not a Team Player Today!

So I actually AM a team player, but had to title today’s card this. Why? Because both the front and inside sentiments are actually only half of the stamps. I made this card for my boss’ Birthday, but not in time to take it to work for the rest of the department to sign. So, had to leave that part off. Then, when deciding on the inside sentiment, I chose to use only part of that as well. It was super easy – I just placed a sticky note over the part I didn’t want to show up. Inked it up, removed the sticky note, and voila! Below the card photos are the complete stamp sets. I just love these! I can’t stand how stinkin’ cute the office chair is. Ok. I’ll admit it. I wanted the set just for that one stamp. And check out the sentiments in Here’s a Card. Some of them are downright hilarious! Definitely my kind of stamp sets. And if you look closely, the Night of Navy cardstock layer is embossed with the Subtle 3D folder to emulate the fabric on a real chair. Details Details!

Watercolor Wishes Quick and Simple

I decided to dust off a couple retired products – we all have them and we all need to use them more! A couple years ago, there was a beautiful card kit called Watercolor Wishes. I just love the stamp set and knew the “You’re Amazing” sentiment was the perfect size for the 1″ slot I created. This layout is super easy – just cut your top layer piece 1″ shorter than a standard layer. Then, put it in the trimmer at whatever angle suits you and give it a cut. Glue it down with the end borders even and…TADA! A quick, easy way to add interest to your card!  Isn’t this Designer Series Paper just adorable? It’s only available for a couple more days – free with a $50 minimum purchase – during Sale-a-Bration!

The other dusty items on these cards are the Brights Collection Buttons. OMGoodness…I have no idea how old they must be! Anyone care to guess? I topped the buttons with some Whisper White Baker’s Twine tied in a triple bow. I first made a standard bow, but the twine was a bit too small for the scale of the buttons.

Night of Snowflakes with Snowflake Showcase

Snowflake Showcase Banner
Stampin’ Up has a limited time offer of a unique new coordinating suite called Snowflake Showcase available beginning November 1 through 30 or while supplies last. Why is this suite of products unique? Because there are images and dies that can be used for almost any occasion and any time of the year! There are two stamp sets – Snow is Glistening and Happiness Surrounds, along with the coordinating Snowfall Thinlits Dies, Snowflake Trinkets, and Velveteen Paper. Each item is sold separately so you can mix and match!

Today’s card uses very non-traditional colors for Christmas, which is something I seem to lean towards a lot. I made my own Gold Shimmer Spritz by using a small amount of the Gold Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol in a Stampin’ Spritzer. Can you believe that coverage? Gorgeous! I feel like the Night of Navy and Gold Shimmer are reminiscent of a sparkling night sky.

Night of Snowflakes
I also spritzed the cardstock that the snowflake die cuts are from, but it’s much more difficult to see it. Maybe because they are so small? Here’s a close up. You can kind of see the shimmer on the Old Olive snowflake. I just can’t get enough of these snowflakes! I’ll have another idea tomorrow using brighter non-traditional colors.  Keep scrolling to see more samples.

Grandma’s Galvanized Country Home

My stamp club met last night. I knew I wanted to share my love of the Country Home suite with them, so this is the card I had them make. I had not used the Galvanized Metallic Paper prior to making this card…and WOW! I wish I had opened the package sooner! It is absolutely gorgeous! Using the Tin Tile Dynamic Embossing Folder is awesome, too. It reminds me of an old-fashioned kitchen backsplash you’d see in Grandma’s farm house!

Country Home with the Milk Jug

The new 2018 Holiday catalog…Oh my. I am in heaven! I can’t wait until I can share the entire catalog with you! You will be able to begin ordering on September 4th.

I absolutely love all things Autumn…the colors, the cool air, bonfires, apple cider. I call it “sweater weather”. So you can only guess how happy I am when Stampin’ Up thrills me with new fall stamp sets. This set is called Country Home and is part of the Country Lane Suite.  I colored it with Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers – including some of the new colors available in this catalog. I thought it would look lovely with a background layer that shows the Subtle Dynamic Embossing Folder from the Annual catalog. I wanted some Baker’s Twine for the Galvanized Button, but I didn’t want Very Vanilla, so I ran the length of the twine on my Mango Melody ink pad with a piece of cardstock on top to hold it against the pad. Then I let it dry for a bit before tying it on. This card makes me truly content.

Simple Touch of Sympathy

Unfortunately, there are times in our lives that we need to make sympathy cards. I prefer floral cards with a small spot of color. I enjoy sponging color onto the wooden Touches of Nature Elements. Just make sure you protect your table. Use a scrap of paper and sponge onto the wooden piece while it’s laying on it. If you try to hold it while sponging, the ink will not cover it completely. This card also uses a couple retired products, but you can always substitute similar ribbon and Designer Series Paper.

Simple Touch of Sympathy

Cardstock:  Old Olive, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper: Painted Blooms*
Ink:  Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Wild Wasabi
Lovelies: Touches of Nature Elements, Whisper White Organza Ribbon*, Old Olive Bakers Twine, Pearl Basic Jewels
Tools:  Layering Ovals Framelits, Big Shot, Magnetic Platform, Stampin’ Sponges

Birthday Balloons for Mo

My oldest child turned 22 last week. What a sobering thought! Just because he’s grown, though, doesn’t mean he can’t get a fun Birthday card, right? It’s so hard to strike a balance of masculine yet fun, but the Celebrations Duo embossing folder that says “HAPPY” looks like a perfect fit! It’s hard to tell, but those circles you see are not all layers. I punched out a 2 ½” circle from the Tangerine Tango layer, embossed it, then glued it on. This allows the Early Espresso to show through from the card base. The Daffodil Delight is punched out with the 2” Circle Punch and glued inside that. This keeps the card from becoming too bulky. It also conserves cardstock, as I now have a 2 ½” circle of Tangerine Tango that I can use on another card! Bonus tip: I cut the “Happy Birthday” sentiment apart so I could easily stamp just “Birthday” on the front.
