Faces of a Ladybug Waterfall RAK

I am part of a Facebook group that encourages creating our cards for others in Jesus’ name. You can call it a Random Act of Kindness (RAK) card. Each month there is a post that people can comment on providing the name and address of someone that could use some cheering up. One person had a special request for a relative. I will not disclose anything personal, but based on what I read, I knew an interactive, cheerful card was in order. That inspiration is shown here – a waterfall card with the many faces of a sweet little ladybug. I just know the recipient is going to love it and being able to bring a smile to someone’s face is the greatest blessing for me.

Udderly Fantastic JoAnn

Today’s card will deviate from the fall/winter cards most people post during this time of the year. My sweet friend, JoAnn, is a huge cow fanatic…anything and everything that looks like, or even appears to look like, cows make her giggle with happiness. The woman even has a MOO-ing ringtone on her phone! She’s quite a lively, fun person and you can’t help but to laugh when you’re with her. I had no choice but to make her a cow Birthday card…and this stamp just screams happy, bright colors. I added a little bit of the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint on the daisy for some dimension and some Wink of Stella to the leaves and rain boots. Hilarious!

Snuggly Snowman

Have you seen the Let It Snow Suite on pages 18-21 of the Holiday Catalog? OMGoodness! Those little snowmen are so adorable! And what really takes the cake are the felt hats, scarves and mittens in the Embellishment Kit! I knew the moment I laid eyes on the suite that I was going to have snowmen Christmas cards this year! Here’s a snip from the catalog:

main shot - brighten hill on right side in back to create horizon

And here’s the adorable card I made last night. I stamped the snowman in Memento Tuxedo Black so I could use the Stampin Blends for the nose and slight blue shadow on the right side. I simply had to incorporate some felt pieces and the snowman is so happy to be keeping warm! I’ll be playing around with this suite for a bit, so I’m sure I’ll have some samples coming up that incorporate the Winter Knit 3D embossing folder as well as the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint.

Color Inspiration from Sydney Joy

I was scrolling through Facebook yesterday and happened upon a photo that an awesome photographer posted. Here’s the link to her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/kariizmaphotography/

Sydneys Inspiration Photo

As soon as I saw it, I thought out loud, “What a gorgeous color combination! I’m going to make a floral card in those colors!” (Yes I have permission from her to post her photo…if you don’t know, she’s my talented daughter.) Here’s the color palette, if you’d like to Pin it for future reference:Sydneys Color Palette

I decided to use lots of new products I recently purchased. There is a large magnolia suite in the Annual Catalog, but many people may not be aware that there is a smaller, coordinating one in the Experience Creativity Beginner’s Brochure called Magnolia Blooms. It’s geared towards people that are new to stamping, but that doesn’t mean avid stampers can’t use the products, too. Click here to see the brochure.

This inspiration and color palette just sings “wedding” to me, so I wanted to work in some vellum. I ran a layer piece through the die cutting machine with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder. I die cut the gorgeous frame with the Petal Labels Dies out of Mint Macaron and the magnolia is colored with Stampin’ Blends markers. It was missing something from the Mint Macaron layer, so I asked Hunter what she thought it needed. Why do I even bother asking? Her answer for almost everything is to sponge it! So, that’s what I did. I love the extra texture from it. I finished it off with Pearl Basic Jewels colored with the Bronze and Petal Pink Blends and I decided to use the gorgeous Petal Pink Variegated Ribbon that retired from the Occasions Catalog in the spring…but I’ll bet there are lots of you that have it because it was a best-seller.

Fashionably Late Birthday Card

Let’s admit it. We’ve all done it. We’ve all had a moment where we realized that someone’s Birthday just happened and we forgot about it. Just because you forgot to give a card by their Birthday doesn’t mean you can’t send them belated well-wishes. This card is fun to color and I added Wink of Stella for a glittery effect that will still make them smile…even if it is a day or three late.

Back On Your Feet Trio – Card 3

Today’s card features the sad, upside down turtle from the Back On Your Feet stamp set on page 83 of the Annual Catalog. Yesterday’s card featured a poor little sloth, which you can see here. Card 1 from two days ago is a giraffe tied in a knot. You can see that card here. I can commiserate with this little turtle. Sometimes we get turned upside down and all we can do is SIGH. He’s stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with Stampin’ Blends. I thought the Arrows Embossing Folder was a good match for this card. I love the greens and browns together and enjoyed dusting off some retired Always Artichoke cardstock and ink and a super old roll of Old Olive ribbon.

Back On Your Feet Trio – Card 2

Today’s card features the poor little sloth from the Back On Your Feet stamp set on page 83 of the Annual Catalog. Yesterday’s card featured a giraffe tied in a knot. You can see that card here. Tomorrow’s card will have the upside down turtle. This sad, hurt little sloth can’t make it out of his little tree. Poor thing! He’s stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with Stampin’ Blends. The Layered Leaves Dynamic Embossing Folder is embossed on the Old Olive layer. It coordinates perfectly with the leaves on the stamp as well as the wooden leaves from the Sale-a-Bration Butterfly Elements that were available at the beginning of this year.

Back On Your Feet Trio – Card 1

Who doesn’t love a sweet card when you’re feeling down, under the weather, or have an owie? The Back On Your Feet stamp set on page 83 of the Annual Catalog fits almost any situation. There’s a tied up giraffe, hurt sloth and upside down turtle. I’ll be sharing cards made with the sloth and turtle in the next two days, but for now, here’s the poor little giraffe. He’s stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with Stampin’ Blends. I thought it would be cute to add the braided linen trim to correlate to the knot. It’s difficult to see in the photo, but I also used the Subtle Embossing Folder on the black layer. Just look at that face – so sad! This could definitely cheer someone up!

Wink To My Person

As soon as I laid my eyes upon the beautiful, new Modern Heart set on page 51 of the Annual Catalog, I knew I had to have it. The sentiment “You’re My Person” is totally something I would tell the special someone I was thinking of when I bought this set. I stamped the heart in Memento Tuxedo Black so I could color it with a rainbow of Stampin’ Blends. After coloring it in, I covered it in sparkly Wink of Stella. The Stitched Shapes square die I cut it out with is a great little touch and the bright Bermuda Bay Designer Series Paper and Mini Striped Ribbon are the perfect amount of boldness. I added the sequins knowing my person doesn’t really care for sequins all that much, but I liked them being white so they would take backstage to the heart. The inside sentiment is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and I added a ½” strip of the DSP along the bottom. The card base is 4 ¼” square and is the perfect size for this fun heart. I think my person will like it!

Not a Team Player Today!

So I actually AM a team player, but had to title today’s card this. Why? Because both the front and inside sentiments are actually only half of the stamps. I made this card for my boss’ Birthday, but not in time to take it to work for the rest of the department to sign. So, had to leave that part off. Then, when deciding on the inside sentiment, I chose to use only part of that as well. It was super easy – I just placed a sticky note over the part I didn’t want to show up. Inked it up, removed the sticky note, and voila! Below the card photos are the complete stamp sets. I just love these! I can’t stand how stinkin’ cute the office chair is. Ok. I’ll admit it. I wanted the set just for that one stamp. And check out the sentiments in Here’s a Card. Some of them are downright hilarious! Definitely my kind of stamp sets. And if you look closely, the Night of Navy cardstock layer is embossed with the Subtle 3D folder to emulate the fabric on a real chair. Details Details!
