Delicate Birthday Blossoms

And today’s card is the second one I had my fun group of ladies at church make. This one features the Emboss Resist Technique.  It was more involved, which is why the entire class ended up being about 3 hours. Bless them for putting up with me for that long! I had them emboss the Delicate Details stamps in white and then use sponge daubers to add color. I also had them use the daubers to add a little bit of Peekaboo Peach to the Daffodil Delight flowers on the front. So bright and springy!

Softly Falling, Beautiful You

Today we take a dramatic turn from the last two whimsical posts. There are some people I know that are going through trying times right now with physical pain. One of them is my little Hunter Bunter. She’s dealing with a knee injury that happened during a soccer game.  She had looked through the Occasions catalog when I first received it and she really liked the Beautiful You set. It has sweet sentiments and lovely brush artwork. When she saw there were new Watercolor Pencils that included her favorite colors Pacific Point and Pumpkin Pie, she insisted we needed them. My little enabler! I am glad that I bought them. The texture of the pencils is smooth and perfect with the Blender Pens.  I wanted a subtle background and the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder seemed like a good fit, as it appears to be tiny raindrops falling. And with that, I hope a card will help cheer my Huntley up, if only for a moment.

Dragonfly Thoughts

Here’s an encore using the Dragonfly Dreams bundle and some lovely accessories.  This is a “Thinking of You” card that I’m sending to a long-distance friend. I hope it puts a smile on her face!

I die cut the intricate dragonfly die in blushing bride. Layered behind it is the dragonfly’s wings that are stamped in Sahara Sand. Then I used the “Rock n Roll” technique to roll the bottom of the stamp along the Soft Sky ink pad. Makes for a lovely, muted background behind the intricate one.

Banner Blessings Sticky Note Calendars

Every time my stamping club, The emBOSSing Queens, meet, I like to give them a thank you gift. Each November, it inevitably ends up being something I can put a calendar on. This year is no exception! The hardest part, for me, is deciding on the sentiment to use. As I was looking through all my sets for an appropriate one that fits throughout the whole year, I happened upon Banner Blessings. I haven’t used it in a while, but it was a great fit for my club ladies. And bonus – you can score it for half price in the clearance section, while supplies last!  These are so quick and easy to make. It takes just 2 pieces to make the base – 4 ¼” x 11” and 4 ¼” x 5 ½”. I found the easiest visual online at:  http://www.cardcreationsbybeth.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

All the sticky-note calendars use Banner Blessing photopolymer stamp set, layering ovals framelits dies, assorted 3” x 3” sticky notes, and the large size calendars from www.vippies.com.

Flourishing Sympathies

I unfortunately needed to make a few sympathy cards. I decided to make all 3 with the same layout. All the stunning dies are from the Flourish Thinlits collection.  They are beautifully detailed and the Big Shot Die Brush works wonders with removing all the little cut out pieces. The Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder creates a nice, subtle background that doesn’t detract from the flowers and sentiment.  I mixed up the color schemes on each one. Which do you like the most?

Manly Missionary Birthday

There is a woman at my church who is in charge of Missions. She is responsible for not only teaching us and updating us on what is going on in the Church of the Nazarene mission field, but she also keeps in contact with both retired and current missionaries assigned to our district.  She asked if I would make the Birthday and Anniversary cards for both families.  Of course, I am delighted to!  The first card I was tasked to create is a masculine Birthday card.  I used to spend HOURS trying to figure out what to do for “guy cards” (that’s what I like to call them). Fret no more! Stampin’ Up has some wonderful masculine sets – including The Wilderness Awaits, which is the fox you see on the outside, and Wetlands, which I used for the inside sentiment. I like to keep the guy cards simple – a little bit of Linen Thread and nice texture from an embossing folder.  Using Stamping Sponges allows for soft, subtle color for my wild fox.

Old & New – Thank You!

I always include a little Thank You card in my Club members’ orders when I deliver them. I appreciate all my ladies!  Today’s thank you card is adorably sized using Stampin’ Up!’s convenient Crumb Cake Notecards. They are 5″ x 3.5″.  Featured on the card is a wonderful new bundle – Flourishing Phrases Stamp Set with the Flourish Thinlits – pure love! I wanted a vintage/collage style and the Timeless Textures Stamp Set makes it work.  I added a quick stamp of leaves from the Flourishing Phrases set on the envelope to pull it all together.  The Layering Ovals Framelits are adorable with the tiny little scallop for the layer.  I hope they like it!
