Celebrate Springtime Butterfly with Brusho

Oh how I wish I could photograph properly – the red on this card is positively VIBRANT! With this one, I used watercolor paper and brushed on a layer of water using my Aqua Painter. Then I sprinkled on the Brusho Crystal Colours in Red and brushed the entire piece with even more water. Pure color saturation! The butterfly is from a new set called Springtime Impressions Thinlits. Using the Precision Base Plate with the Big Shot produces perfect cutting every time. I popped it up using the Mini Dimensionals and the “Celebrate” sentiment, which is glued down with Tombow Multi-Purpose Adhesive, is in the Celebrate You Thinlits set. Black Faceted Dots give it that little hint of bling.  Mounted on a Thick Whisper White card base so it can handle the weight of the watercolor paper. Simply striking! You simply must see it in person! Come to my Catalog Kick-Off Party on June 23rd!

Feather Together with Brusho

Bear with me as I share another card with a Brusho Crystal Colours background. This one uses the green, which has specks of brown in it. It makes the perfect mossy shade for earthy cards. Now, I will be first to say that this card isn’t speaking to me like others do. Hunter said I should’ve put the feathers the other direction. I think I’m just not happy with the size of the banner. But, alas…I really wanted you to see the green Brusho.

Brusho Flying Home Birdie Delight

Here’s another card with a Brusho Crystal Colours background. I am in love with this amazing powder! I decided to break out another new set and ink it up. The Flying Home set just begs to be colored with the Stampin’ Blends. I added some Wink of Stella for a pretty shimmer (see the close up below) and some random Metallic Enamel Shapes. Perfect color combination to help usher in Spring!

Flirty Peekaboo Peacock

I am so in love with Brusho Crystal Colours – they are so vibrant! I used Red and Yellow to make this gorgeous background. To work with the Brusho powder, I taped the watercolor paper down using Washi Tape onto a piece of cardboard. It helps to keep it from curling too much from all the water and when it’s all dry and you remove the Washi tape, it makes a beautiful border. Using the Aqua Painter, I covered the entire piece in plain water. Then I sprinkled on the Brusho powders and spritzed water on to move it around a bit. I love the embossed silver on it, too. For the peacock’s tail, I used sponge daubers to put Peekaboo Peach on the bottom and Flirty Flamingo on the top, being careful to blend slightly for continuous color. After I added the body in Melon Mambo, I fussy cut the peacock out to pop it up with Dimensionals. This color combo is awesome together!

Berry Beautiful Watercolor Birthday

I really tried resisting the purchase of the Beautiful Day stamp set. I mean, how many flower stamps do I really need? And then the samples started popping up…everywhere! Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest…and you know how that goes. Yes. I bought it. Yes. I love it! This card features the image embossed in silver on Shimmery White cardstock and watercolored using ink and an Aqua Painter. So easy and so beautiful – this stamp set was definitely named appropriately!

Be Bold – Class of 2018

I always make cards for my children for their first day of school. It’s surreal knowing my youngest is beginning her last year of High School. Many people say, “Where did the time go?” To quote the end of a poem my sister wrote back in 1988 during her Senior year, “WHY did the time go?” I love you, Hunter, and hope your Senior year is a fantastic, amazing experience!

This is the first card I’ve made using the Eclipse Lettering Technique. I love the look of it. I tried capturing photos where you can see the “shadow” by having the Basic Black behind it. I inked up the “be” from a stamp in the Colorful Seasons set that says “beautiful”. The water under the girl is from High Tide. I die cut the letters first, then put them back together like a puzzle, gluing down the inside pieces first, then popping the letters up with mini-dimensionals. By die cutting first, I was able to stamp the girl right where I wanted her to be.

Shimmery Watercolor Butterfly

I decided to try something different today. I watercolored Flirty Flamingo ink onto Shimmery White cardstock. I used an Aqua Painter to first cover the entire piece of cardstock in water.  Then I brushed the ink in a sweeping motion onto the cardstock. After it dried, I die cut the butterflies. They turned out exactly as I hoped!  If you decide to give it a try, be sure to use a shim for your Big Shot sandwich – the Shimmery White must be slightly thinner than the standard cardstock. My sandwich was (from bottom to top): Magnetic Platform, Precision Base Plate, cardstock, die, shim (scrap piece of cardstock), standard cutting pad.

Shimmery Butterfly

I wish you could see it in real life. You can see the shimmer on the whole butterfly – as if it was covered in Wink of Stella. Here’s a close up that might help a little:

So, what do you think? I’ll definitely use this technique again!
