Balloon of Heal-ium for a Special Someone

Today’s card has an adorable little mouse holding a “heal-ium” filled balloon (that is the sentiment stamped inside). I just adore the Special Someone stamp set in the 2020 Spring Mini catalog. It also has a raccoon and a squirrel. It’s a two-step stamp set, so you can use a darker ink for the outline detailing and a lighter shade to color the inside quickly and easily. You could also choose to stamp the outline and color in the images with watercolor pencils or Stampin’ Blends. Lots of coloring options. I also adore these shades of purple and I hope the recipient likes them, too!

A Touch of Tulips with The Joy of Sets Blog Hop

March 2020

It’s time once again for a super fun blog hop with my fellow The Joy of Sets hoppers! Scroll to the end to see the complete list of hoppers. Our theme this month is anything Easter or Spring. What a perfect time for tulips! My mother has always loved yellow tulips, so she is the inspiration for this card.  I adore this fun fold and thought it was perfect for the flowers. I used the Tulip Builder Punch with a sticky note to create a mask so that I could have some of the flowers in the background without stamping over the foreground.

Woven in Joy Wedding Card

The Woven Threads Suite featured on pages 12-13 of the Annual Catalog is so vintage and the colors remind me of my grandparents. This card comes together quickly and the layout is typical of my style. The Perennial Essence Vellum used for the leaves gives it a 70s vibe. Sweet and simple.

Check You Out – Rival School

I adore owls. And an owl wearing glasses…well…let’s just say that I had to “check out” the stamp set Check You Out (Annual Catalog page 58) when I saw that cute little guy. This card is a super fun one for a High School graduate. This happens to be in the colors of a rival school, but that’s ok. I’ll be sure to make one in red and white, too. Thinking of You on Lilypad Lake

During our excitement of all the new products in the 2020 Spring Mini, we can’t forget about all the fun products in the Annual Catalog. Today’s card features the stamp set Lilypad Lake on page 150 and the coordinating Lakeside Dies on page 193. I die cut the stamped sailboats and colored them with Stampin’ Write Markers. I decided to die cut the sailboat shapes out of Smoky Slate and offset it to create a shadow. I die cut the Stitched Nested Labels out of the So Saffron layer to allow the Seaside card base to show through. Then I glued the sailboats to a Whisper White piece die cut with the same dies, but one size smaller. I popped that layer up on the Seaside Spray. Just a slightly different way to layer the dies, but creates a nice focal point.  For the sentiment, I die cut it with the banner piece from Lakeside Dies and layered it on top of some Braided Linen Trim with knotted ends so they don’t unravel. A sweet thinking of you card so someone knows I care.

Mountain Air in Mango Melody

This gorgeous sunset card was so easy to make using the Pigment Sprinkles in Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody. I brushed a layer of water onto a piece of watercolor cardstock, sprinkled on the Pigments and took more water to it with an Aqua Painter. I let it dry overnight, then stamped the solid side of the mountain range stamp from the Mountain Air set. The set is part of a bundle that you can see in the 2020 Spring Mini catalog on pages 52-53. They are Reversibles and so cool! I die cut the sentiment using the Well Written dies and placed it off to the top left. I chose not to add any other embellishments because the sunset is really the show-stopper here.

Mountain Air in Mango Melody

I don’t break out my Pigment Sprinkles nearly enough, but one look at this card and I think you agree that they are sumthin’ else!

Subtle Breathtaking Bouquet on Vellum

The colors of this card are totally opposite of yesterday’s rich, dark tones. This is a light, pretty card that reminds me of bunnies and weddings. Yeah…I know…where do I come up with this stuff? This card focuses on the background. The stamp is called Breathtaking Bouquet and is in the 2020 Spring Mini catalog. I won it at a Stampin’ Up event and wasn’t really sure what to do with it. I searched online and decided I really liked it embossed. I chose to emboss it on a Petal Pink piece of vellum from the Perennial Essence Vellum cardstock in the Annual Catalog. I used the Stamparatus positioning tool so that I could make sure the Versamark ink got everywhere it should. Sprinkled on the White embossing powder…hit it with the heat tool…and voila! A stunning background for a lovely Birthday card. The sentiment is from the set Magnolia Blooms, which is actually not in the catalog, but a brochure called Experience Creativity (you can see the PDF on my Catalogs tab). It coordinates perfectly with the Good Morning Magnolia suite. That is stamped on a scrap piece of Whisper White, die cut with a circle and layered on a piece of Petal Pink punched with Label Me Lovely. A simple double ribbon and an accent of a silver Designer Element finish off the card.

Shimmering Power of Hope

Deep, rich shades of blues and greens and purples absolutely thrill me. They are my favorite colors and evoke such pleasure. Please tell me I’m not the only one that is affected by colors in this way. Adding shimmer to them takes them beyond gorgeous! I believe this card epitomizes my life colors.

Grape Peacock NavyI started with a piece of watercolor cardstock and sponged on Gorgeous Grape, Night of Navy, and Pretty Peacock. I spritzed water on and blended them. After I dried it with the heat tool, it was still a little light, so I proceeded to do another layer. After heat drying it again, I loved it. But I wanted more…so I put a little bit of Frost White Shimmer Paint into a spritzer and filled it ¾ full with isopropyl alcohol. The alcohol makes it dry faster. I used a very heavy hand to spritz it all over the layer. FYI – if you rub on it, the shimmer paint will still rub off even after drying, so I recommend using a clear envelope for the recipient.

Shimmering Power of Hope Close Up

I stamped the sentiment from the Sale-a-Bration set Power of Hope on a scrap of Whisper White and die cut it out with the Layering Circles Dies and glued that onto a piece of Pretty Peacock punched with the new Label Me Lovely punch that is available in the 2020 Spring Mini catalog.  I colored the linen part of the Pretty Peacock ½” Scalloped Linen Ribbon with the Dark Basic Black Blend and finished it off with some Pretty Peacock Rhinestones.Shimmering Power of HopeIf I were a card, this would be me.

Grateful for Praiseworthy Prose

The Praiseworthy Prose bundle on page 109 of the Annual Catalog pairs a sweet stamp set with a great alphabet die set. You can never have too many alphabet dies! This thank you card uses the “g” die cut out and popped up on dimensionals on a piece of Vellum cardstock that has been punched out and embossed. I think it’s pretty how the Lovely Lipstick ribbon can be seen behind it. I was able to hide the adhesive on the vellum by only using it where the “g” is. I just adore this Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper from the 2020 Sale-a-Bration brochure and am on my second pack. I finished the card off with some of the Pretty Peacock colored rhinestones from the Noble Peacock Rhinestones pack. Love that color so much!
