Velvet Snowflakes against Granite

Snowflake Showcase Banner
Stampin’ Up has a limited time offer of a unique new coordinating suite called Snowflake Showcase available beginning today, November 1 through 30 or while supplies last. Why is this suite of products unique? Because there are images and dies that can be used for almost any occasion and any time of the year! There are two stamp sets – Snow is Glistening and Happiness Surrounds, along with the coordinating Snowfall Thinlits Dies, Snowflake Trinkets, and White Velvet Paper. Each item is sold separately so you can mix and match!

For this card, I chose to go the opposite of my last super bright card. This one is more calming and makes me think of softly falling snow in the early evening. I used the wonderfully soft White Velvet Paper for the snowflakes and kept this card demure.

Frosted Healing Hugs

I had debated back and forth about the Frosted Floral suite in the Holiday Catalog on pages 36 – 37. It is so pretty. But I have so many flower stamp sets already. But it is so pretty. Oh boy…this is how my mind works, people. After seeing so many beautiful samples online, I decided I simply had to have it. And by that, I mean the entire suite. Because no one wants regrets once it’s too late, right?  So here we have a pretty, bright cheerful Get Well card. The sentiments from the Healing Hugs set are perfect. I love the font with the flowers. And does the Frosted Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper look a little…uh…fuzzy and frosty in the photo? That’s because there is a shimmer beyond gorgeous on it that the camera cannot do justice to!

Frosty Flakes with Snowflake Showcase

Snowflake Showcase Banner

I am continuing on with another card from the Snowflake Showcase suite. Scroll down for a link to the PDF flyer with all the product information.  For this card, I chose screaming bright colors and I couldn’t be more pleased. First, I took a half piece of Whisper White cardstock and sponged on Blueberry Bushel and Lovely Lipstick and blended them together here and there. I die cut out all the snowflakes, then using a sponge dauber, I sponged Frost Shimmer Paint directly on them. It only takes a few minutes for it to dry.

Frosty Flakes
I used a Stampin’ Spritzer with a few drops of the Frost Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol and spritzed the entire layer of Lovely Lipstick. I’m including a close up so you can better see the shimmer. I topped everything off with a Snowflake Trinket from the Snowflake Showcase! I do believe the Shimmer Paints are my all-time favorite product in the Holiday catalog!

Night of Snowflakes with Snowflake Showcase

Today’s card uses very non-traditional colors for Christmas, which is something I seem to lean towards a lot. I made my own Gold Shimmer Spritz by using a small amount of the Gold Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol in a Stampin’ Spritzer. Can you believe that coverage? Gorgeous! I feel like the Night of Navy and Gold Shimmer are reminiscent of a sparkling night sky.

Night of Snowflakes
I also spritzed the cardstock that the snowflake die cuts are from, but it’s much more difficult to see it. Maybe because they are so small? Here’s a close up. You can kind of see the shimmer on the Old Olive snowflake. I just can’t get enough of these snowflakes! I’ll have another idea tomorrow using brighter non-traditional colors.  Keep scrolling to see more samples.

Country Home with a Coastal Twist for the Joy of Sets October Blog Hop

Banner

I am super excited to be participating in my second The Joy of Sets Blog Hop.  This month’s blog hop features the Holiday Catalog. You undoubtedly are joining me from Kim Oliver’s page and after mine, you’ll head over to Alejandra Gomez’s page. Links are below to help you hop along.

I adore so many products in the new catalog, but I have been absolutely in love with the Country Home suite since the moment I laid eyes on it. I knew I would feature that suite for this blog hop. I’ve made several cards already using autumn colors. You can see those posts here:
Grandma’s Galvanized Country Home
Tin Tile Country Home
Country Home with the Watering Can
Country Home with the Milk Jug

This time, though, I wanted to brighten it up and show that it is a beautiful set that can be used all year long. This is perfect for the spring or summer time as well.

Coastal Country Home
Here’s a close up of the flowers so you can get a better view of the Wink of Stella I added to them. The shimmer from that, along with the silver detail in both the Galvanized Clips and the Silver & Pool Party Baker’s Twine  really makes it stand out.

Tranquil Buffalo

Another first inking of a stamp from the Holiday Catalog. This Buffalo Check background stamp is so much fun! It reminds me of all the plaid flannel shirts my dad had. And I’m going to take a brief moment to show one of my favorite photos of my 3 children and my niece. We were visiting my niece and all 4 of them just happened to put on plaid shirts the same day! Kinda scary, huh?

Tranquil Buffalo Cousins
This card is a quick and easy one that will have no problems being sent to a friend in Canada. I try to make cards as flat as possible when sending them outside the U.S. To keep it special, I added some of the silver stars from the Twinkle Adhesive Backed Sequins pack. I love doubling up on the Happy Birthday die cut and having the bottom dark color off-set to look like a shadow.

Thankful for Pleasant Pheasants

Today’s card features another new stamp set in the upcoming Holiday catalog, which will be available to order from beginning September 5, 2018. Pheasants are dear to my heart, as they remind me of my dad. Back in 2009, Stampin’ Up! released a stamp set called Autumn Days, which also featured a pheasant. I bought the set to make my dad’s Birthday card with it. Unfortunately, he passed away a few weeks before his Birthday. I made him a Missing You card and placed it in his casket. You can see that card here. So, as you can imagine, as soon as Hunter and I saw this new Pleasant Pheasants stamp set, she looked at me and said I had to get it…in my dad’s memory. So, dad, this card is for you, too.

Keep reading for a couple of techniques featured on this card.

Thankful for Pleasant Pheasants

Background Block Stamping With Markers
I know for myself that it can be difficult to color in images that are realistic, so I tried a technique that is new-to-me. This was super easy – as you can see by the steps below. I used Block E and scribbled Stampin’ Write markers on it. Then I spritzed it about 8 to 10 times with water. I then placed it directly on to the Whisper White cardstock. I wasn’t able to capture it on a photo, but when you place it on the cardstock, you can actually see the color absorbing right into the cardstock. It doesn’t take very long to dry, either. Just keep in mind that the cardstock will bow a little.

Customizing Pearls
I adore the new Braided Linen Trim, but I needed a little something extra. I grabbed my Dark Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends marker and colored directly onto the pearls with the brush end. Since Blends are alcohol markers, they dry almost instantly and the color won’t rub off.  Another excuse for me to buy more Blends colors so I can have pearls of any color I need!

Truckin’ Through the Trees

Here’s another sneak peek for you from the upcoming 2018 Holiday Catalog. As soon as I saw the Festive Farmhouse suite, I knew I had to have it! This card features the image of the truck, having just been loaded with the perfect Christmas tree to take home for the family to decorate it. I love the coordinating die cuts, which include the truck and the tree. So much easier and faster than fussy-cutting. And let’s talk for a moment about the Festive Farmhouse Cotton Twine. I could not get over how soft it is! And I love that it comes with 3 colors that coordinate with the suite – Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow, and Very Vanilla. This stamp set also includes a house and several sentiments with coordinating dies. I chose to use the die with the adorable stitching around the edge for the sentiment. It makes such a nice border. There are so many possibilities with this set and I will definitely be sharing more ideas with you soon.

Country Home with the Watering Can

Here’s another sneak peek at the awesome Country Home stamp set. I can not wait until you can add this to your collection, too! You will be able to begin ordering on September 4th.

I decided to take a rugged turn with this card. I spritzed Soft Suede on the card base. I ran the Rich Razzleberry cardstock layer through the new Corrugated Dynamic Embossing Folder. Does anyone out there remember using a hand-held crimper to get this same look? This is so much easier! No worries about putting the piece in crooked – that used to frustrate me to no end! This embossing folder actually has a very convenient line across the bottom that you can place the cardstock on. Presto Perfect! Just remember to spritz your cardstock with a little water before running it through the Big Shot so the paper doesn’t crack. After I did this, I ran scissors across the edges to rough them up and then I wadded it up for even more texture. The stamped image is colored in with Stampin’ Blends, the top two corners rounded with the Detailed Trio Punch, and it is finished with a new Galvanized Clip tied with Braided Linen Trim. The only thing I would change on this is that I would’ve made the stamped image layer a bit more angled. That’s what I was going for, but it kind of looks like I accidentally put it on a little crooked. I still love this rustic card, though.

Birdhouse Birthday

These little birdhouses are the most darling little things. And the sweet birdie peeking out the window is adorable. I enjoyed coloring this with the Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. When I finished the focal point, i realized I needed texture in the background. I reached for the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Embossing Folder. The Dynamic folders are designed to leave a deep impression. I chose to run it through the Big Shot on platform 1 with just one acrylic plate on top to give it a softer look. I love it – and it doesn’t detract from the main image. Such a fun card!
