Amazing Dragonflies and Brusho

If you know me, then you know just how much I adore dragonflies. When Stampin’ Up introduced their Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and coordinating Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits in the 2017 Occasions catalog, I was in heaven! I am so pleased they carried over and are still current. Today’s card features a beautiful Brusho Crystal Colours background and slight hints of sparkle with the new Faceted Dots in black. The “amazing” die from the Celebrate You Thinlits is the perfect font. The dragonflies are popped up using Mini Dimensionals, which are a perfect fit. I mounted the watercolor paper onto a Thick Whisper White card base for extra stability. It’s so much more vibrant in real life…guess you’ll just have to come to my Catalog Kick-Off Party on June 23rd to see it in person!

Feather Together with Brusho

Bear with me as I share another card with a Brusho Crystal Colours background. This one uses the green, which has specks of brown in it. It makes the perfect mossy shade for earthy cards. Now, I will be first to say that this card isn’t speaking to me like others do. Hunter said I should’ve put the feathers the other direction. I think I’m just not happy with the size of the banner. But, alas…I really wanted you to see the green Brusho.

Brusho Flying Home Birdie Delight

Here’s another card with a Brusho Crystal Colours background. I am in love with this amazing powder! I decided to break out another new set and ink it up. The Flying Home set just begs to be colored with the Stampin’ Blends. I added some Wink of Stella for a pretty shimmer (see the close up below) and some random Metallic Enamel Shapes. Perfect color combination to help usher in Spring!

Flirty Peekaboo Peacock

I am so in love with Brusho Crystal Colours – they are so vibrant! I used Red and Yellow to make this gorgeous background. To work with the Brusho powder, I taped the watercolor paper down using Washi Tape onto a piece of cardboard. It helps to keep it from curling too much from all the water and when it’s all dry and you remove the Washi tape, it makes a beautiful border. Using the Aqua Painter, I covered the entire piece in plain water. Then I sprinkled on the Brusho powders and spritzed water on to move it around a bit. I love the embossed silver on it, too. For the peacock’s tail, I used sponge daubers to put Peekaboo Peach on the bottom and Flirty Flamingo on the top, being careful to blend slightly for continuous color. After I added the body in Melon Mambo, I fussy cut the peacock out to pop it up with Dimensionals. This color combo is awesome together!

Squeals for the New In Colors!

Oh My Goodness! The new catalog will be released on June 1st and I am so excited to share the new 2017-2019 In Colors with you! This is a super fun collection and Stampin’ Up has really hit the trendy mark with these – I’m seeing these colors everywhere! From nail polish…to clothing…to pillows…to even an SUV that is Lemon Lime Twist! I got my hands on all these fun new goodies yesterday and had to dive right in. The Happy Birthday Thinlit cuts the cardstock beautifully when you use the Precision Base Plate and Die Brush. You will be able to purchase the thinlit and matching stamp set, Happy Birthday Gorgeous, as a bundle when the catalog goes live. And don’t even get me started on these FELT Bitty Bows! YES! FELT! They are beyond DARLING!  And what do you think about my background design? It’s as simple as putting 25 drops of Ink Refill into a Stampin’ Spritzer and filling it the rest of the way with rubbing alcohol. Then you just spritz a little bit! Since I used rubbing alcohol, it dries super fast.

And now to introduce our newest colors, from the top left going clockwise: Tranquil Tide, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst and Powder Pink. I’m having a tough time deciding on my absolute fave…it’s between Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist. Oh…but I really like Tranquil Tide, too! And Powder Pink! And Fresh Fig! I’m so glad I have 2 whole years to use these beauties!

Peachy “Orange Peel” Technique

I have been so anxious to share this card with all of you! So, this is the “Orange Peel” technique that Stampin’ Up shared at Convention:

  1. Stamp your design on Watercolor Paper.
  2. Using a Stampin’ Spritzer, lightly spritz with plain water. Just 2 or 3 full spritzes unless you want the colors to run more.
  3. Pour on Clear Embossing Powder and shake off the excess. Since we’re covering the entire piece, there is no need for the Embossing Buddy.
  4. Using the Heat Tool on the high setting, melt the embossing powder. Hold the heat tool at an angle and you can see the ripples forming!
