Fall Gathering of Sneak Peeks

I love autumn and the gorgeous colors of the changing leaves. This card, with its rich Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Merry Merlot, showcases perfect colors for a fall card. It also happens to feature lots of sneak peeks of upcoming goodies you’ll be able to get in the 2019 Holiday Catalog (September 4) including the Come To Gather Suite with all its luscious autumn glory and the Ornate Frames Dies that are actually part of the Monster Bash Suite. There are 11 frame dies in that set that will be perfect for so many of your projects year-round. I adore this time of year!

Gather Together for a Harvest Hello Sneak Peek

Welcome to my happy place! I adore all things fall – sweater weather, pumpkins, Halloween movies, Thanksgiving, all the vibrant colors of the falling leaves. If Michigan could be submersed in autumn all year long, I would be such a happy person!  I am thrilled to share a sneak peek from the 2019 Holiday catalog that features two Harvest-themed sets plus an awesome Apple Builder punch that does double-duty as both an apple and a pumpkin!

I started this card by layering a couple of the Stitched Rectangles to make a frame. When I popped it up with foam tape, I made sure to leave a small space for the twine so there wouldn’t be a bump from the thickness of the twine. I stamped the sentiment directly onto the card front and the pumpkin and stem are stamped and punched out, while I fussy-cut the leaf. The pumpkin is popped up on Dimensionals. I finished off the front by using my bone folder to curl the twine the same way you use scissors to curl ribbon. Love it!

Grandma’s Galvanized Country Home

My stamp club met last night. I knew I wanted to share my love of the Country Home suite with them, so this is the card I had them make. I had not used the Galvanized Metallic Paper prior to making this card…and WOW! I wish I had opened the package sooner! It is absolutely gorgeous! Using the Tin Tile Dynamic Embossing Folder is awesome, too. It reminds me of an old-fashioned kitchen backsplash you’d see in Grandma’s farm house!

Tin Tile Country Home

I hope you aren’t tired of this stamp set yet, because I am addicted to it! I just love coloring it with the Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. The blending is so easy! This card features an awesome background impression that is achieved with the Tin Tile Dynamic Embossing Folder. It’s the perfect backdrop for this milk can of flowers. I am counting down the days until I can share pictures of the suite online!

Thankful for Pleasant Pheasants

Today’s card features another new stamp set in the upcoming Holiday catalog, which will be available to order from beginning September 5, 2018. Pheasants are dear to my heart, as they remind me of my dad. Back in 2009, Stampin’ Up! released a stamp set called Autumn Days, which also featured a pheasant. I bought the set to make my dad’s Birthday card with it. Unfortunately, he passed away a few weeks before his Birthday. I made him a Missing You card and placed it in his casket. You can see that card here. So, as you can imagine, as soon as Hunter and I saw this new Pleasant Pheasants stamp set, she looked at me and said I had to get it…in my dad’s memory. So, dad, this card is for you, too.

Keep reading for a couple of techniques featured on this card.

Thankful for Pleasant Pheasants

Background Block Stamping With Markers
I know for myself that it can be difficult to color in images that are realistic, so I tried a technique that is new-to-me. This was super easy – as you can see by the steps below. I used Block E and scribbled Stampin’ Write markers on it. Then I spritzed it about 8 to 10 times with water. I then placed it directly on to the Whisper White cardstock. I wasn’t able to capture it on a photo, but when you place it on the cardstock, you can actually see the color absorbing right into the cardstock. It doesn’t take very long to dry, either. Just keep in mind that the cardstock will bow a little.

Customizing Pearls
I adore the new Braided Linen Trim, but I needed a little something extra. I grabbed my Dark Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends marker and colored directly onto the pearls with the brush end. Since Blends are alcohol markers, they dry almost instantly and the color won’t rub off.  Another excuse for me to buy more Blends colors so I can have pearls of any color I need!

Country Home with the Watering Can

Here’s another sneak peek at the awesome Country Home stamp set. I can not wait until you can add this to your collection, too! You will be able to begin ordering on September 4th.

I decided to take a rugged turn with this card. I spritzed Soft Suede on the card base. I ran the Rich Razzleberry cardstock layer through the new Corrugated Dynamic Embossing Folder. Does anyone out there remember using a hand-held crimper to get this same look? This is so much easier! No worries about putting the piece in crooked – that used to frustrate me to no end! This embossing folder actually has a very convenient line across the bottom that you can place the cardstock on. Presto Perfect! Just remember to spritz your cardstock with a little water before running it through the Big Shot so the paper doesn’t crack. After I did this, I ran scissors across the edges to rough them up and then I wadded it up for even more texture. The stamped image is colored in with Stampin’ Blends, the top two corners rounded with the Detailed Trio Punch, and it is finished with a new Galvanized Clip tied with Braided Linen Trim. The only thing I would change on this is that I would’ve made the stamped image layer a bit more angled. That’s what I was going for, but it kind of looks like I accidentally put it on a little crooked. I still love this rustic card, though.

Perfect Plum Painted Harvest

I can’t get enough of this Painted Harvest stamp set! It is so beyond versatile and I really like using them as my own “Designer Series Paper” for backgrounds. Since the last card I made using this set was super bright, I thought I’d tone it down a little and focus on purples. So happy with this!

Painted Harvest – More Than Sunflowers

I was so excited perusing through the new Holiday Catalog…and immediately fell in love with the gorgeous hand-painted style of the sunflowers in the Painted Harvest set. I simply HAD to have it! Imagine my happiness when I started seeing people posting samples with non-traditional colors!?! I decided to try a combo using bright, fun, summery colors…and I am thrilled with the final outcome!

Painted Harvest Color Palette.jpg
After stamping my flowers, I began to assemble my card. To my surprise, I realized I used colors in which I did not have any matching ribbon. So, I pulled an oldie-but-goodie technique out of the bag and colored the White Bakers Twine with Berry Burst ink! I stamped a flower in both the corner of the envelope and the inside layer. Try not to smile when you look at these flowers!
