Peaceful Place with Guest Stamper Hunter

Hunter and I had a stamping session yesterday and the card she made is so stunning, I asked if she could be my guest stamper today. This daughter of mine is such an artist and can work magic with a few watercolor pencils and blender pens. She dipped into some retired products for this card, proving once again that I am so glad I kept a hold of them. Impressive work, Hunter! Thank you for letting me showcase your card today.

Back On Your Feet Trio – Card 3

Today’s card features the sad, upside down turtle from the Back On Your Feet stamp set on page 83 of the Annual Catalog. Yesterday’s card featured a poor little sloth, which you can see here. Card 1 from two days ago is a giraffe tied in a knot. You can see that card here. I can commiserate with this little turtle. Sometimes we get turned upside down and all we can do is SIGH. He’s stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with Stampin’ Blends. I thought the Arrows Embossing Folder was a good match for this card. I love the greens and browns together and enjoyed dusting off some retired Always Artichoke cardstock and ink and a super old roll of Old Olive ribbon.

Irresistible Baby Feet

Oh my! Is there anything sweeter than tiny, irresistible baby feet? Especially those tiny heels? OMGoodness! I love baby heels so stinkin’ much! Ok…back on track… I love the effect of color resist and the retired Irresistibly Yours paper has designs pre-embossed and ready for color. This was a Sale-a-Bration item in 2015 and it has sheets embossed with 6 different patterns. I love little stars for little boys, so it was a no-brainer. I thoroughly enjoyed making this card and I hope the recipients liked it!

Silly for Spinners

As the day of the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog release approaches, it’s always bittersweet. I am super excited for all the new colors and products, but also a little forlorn thinking about products past. I needed to make some Birthday cards for kids and I really like to have some kind of interactive element to them. Hunter suggested I make spinner cards. I hadn’t used my spinner pieces in years! I decided to brush off several retired items to make these cards and I’m so glad I did. I’m having a hard time not keeping one for myself just to fiddle with!

Be sure to click below for the lists of retiring products from the current Annual Catalog and Occasions Catalog so you don’t miss out on something fantastic!

Gingham Easter Lilies

I had to wait to share this until after Easter so that the people receiving them wouldn’t see them ahead of time. Even though Easter is over, you can still make these cards…just change the sentiment to whatever you need. Even though some of these products are from Sale-a-Bration and are no longer available, I know several people that have these items. If you weren’t able to get your hands on them, you can always substitute with products you already have.

Gingham Easter Lilies
I have always loved the look of vellum on cards. So reminiscent of the cards I used to receive as a child from my mother. She knew how much I loved the crinkly sound of it. These cards use the soft, pretty colors from the Gingham Gala 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper Stack (available in the Occasions catalog) as my inspiration. I glued the lilies and sentiment onto the vellum, then placed adhesive onto the back of the vellum on the spots where the lilies and sentiments are. This way, when gluing the vellum layer onto the DSP, no adhesive shows through. I hope everyone liked the colors I chose for them!

Card Recipe
Stamp Set:  Lasting Lily (SAB), Teeny Tiny Wishes*

Lovelies:  Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack (SAB)

Fresh Out, Bro!

As promised, here is the card I slipped in to Marcus’ backpack before he headed back to Virginia. For context, here’s the backstory for you. One of his shipmates says, “Fresh out, bro!” almost every time someone asks him for something. Even if he has that item in his hand, he’ll still say this and not share. Now, all the other shipmates say the same thing to be smarta$$es. This is why I never make him a card ahead of a visit – he always regales me with some kind of story that I can incorporate into a card! Now this endeavor was a little trickier, as I used Word to type up the phrases and had to get the positioning right. It actually only took me two tries. I wasn’t going to attempt to get the “MOM” centered properly on the computer, so I skimmed through all my sets and Thoughtful Banners fit perfectly! This card was meant to be!

Epic Retirement

Today we will take a break from the bright, bold flowers of the Happiness Blooms Designer Series Paper and instead take a look at the awesome background stamp Crackle Paint in the upcoming Occasions catalog. Isn’t it a great backdrop for this card?  A coworker/friend commissioned a male retirement card and told me the retiree liked guitars. I decided to pull out retired stamp sets for the retirement card. See what I did there? Ha Ha Ha! I am too funny! I also decided to use some retired cardstock, ink, and candy dots, too. Don’t let your retired products get dusty, folks! There’s still life left in them! I just love how this card is truly a mix of old, current and upcoming products.

These upcoming Rectangle Stitched Framelits are so versatile and I know I’ll be getting a lot of use out of them!
