A Touch of Tulips with The Joy of Sets Blog Hop

March 2020

It’s time once again for a super fun blog hop with my fellow The Joy of Sets hoppers! Scroll to the end to see the complete list of hoppers. Our theme this month is anything Easter or Spring. What a perfect time for tulips! My mother has always loved yellow tulips, so she is the inspiration for this card.  I adore this fun fold and thought it was perfect for the flowers. I used the Tulip Builder Punch with a sticky note to create a mask so that I could have some of the flowers in the background without stamping over the foreground.

Shimmering Power of Hope

Deep, rich shades of blues and greens and purples absolutely thrill me. They are my favorite colors and evoke such pleasure. Please tell me I’m not the only one that is affected by colors in this way. Adding shimmer to them takes them beyond gorgeous! I believe this card epitomizes my life colors.

Grape Peacock NavyI started with a piece of watercolor cardstock and sponged on Gorgeous Grape, Night of Navy, and Pretty Peacock. I spritzed water on and blended them. After I dried it with the heat tool, it was still a little light, so I proceeded to do another layer. After heat drying it again, I loved it. But I wanted more…so I put a little bit of Frost White Shimmer Paint into a spritzer and filled it ¾ full with isopropyl alcohol. The alcohol makes it dry faster. I used a very heavy hand to spritz it all over the layer. FYI – if you rub on it, the shimmer paint will still rub off even after drying, so I recommend using a clear envelope for the recipient.

Shimmering Power of Hope Close Up

I stamped the sentiment from the Sale-a-Bration set Power of Hope on a scrap of Whisper White and die cut it out with the Layering Circles Dies and glued that onto a piece of Pretty Peacock punched with the new Label Me Lovely punch that is available in the 2020 Spring Mini catalog.  I colored the linen part of the Pretty Peacock ½” Scalloped Linen Ribbon with the Dark Basic Black Blend and finished it off with some Pretty Peacock Rhinestones.Shimmering Power of HopeIf I were a card, this would be me.

Believe You Can in Springtime Colors

The sweet stamp set Believe You Can is tucked away in the far back of the Annual Catalog (page 207) and is a Host set. It’s one of those sets I thought was cute, but never put it on my wish list. Hunter, on the other hand, knew we should have it. So…there it is. I enjoyed coloring it with the Stampin’ Blends markers and pairing it up with some Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-Bration brochure. I had sponged the DSP in Mint Macaron, but decided I didn’t care for it, so I cut another piece and kept it as is. I finished it off with a White Baker’s Twine double bow and some random Iridescent Sequins that I applied with the Fine Tip Glue and Take Your Pick Tool. Cute, yes?

Lily Impressions with Retiring Colors

I will be the first to admit that I have not utilized the 2018-2020 In Colors quite as much the past few months. It was nice pulling out Grapefruit Grove (which I love immensely) and Lovely Lipstick (shocking pinkness) to use as layering colors for these cards. They pop beautifully against the Blackberry Bliss card bases and coordinate perfectly with the absolutely stunning Lily Impressions Designer Series Paper.

Lily Impressons DSP

I used a new punch called Label Me Lovely to accent the die cut circle with the sweet sentiment from Power of Hope. Both the Lily Impressions DSP and the Power of Hope stamp set are part of the 2020 Sale-a-Bration promotion and cannot be purchased…but you can earn them FREE while supplies last. The finale are the Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots on each side of the sentiment. All products (not just the ones used here) using 2018-2020 In Colors will be retiring on June 1st, but if these are like any of the past colors, they will sell out before then, so don’t wait. Scroll down to see the five colors.

Beautifully Braided on Stone

The Beautifully Braided stamp set with coordinating punch on page 29 of the 2020 Spring Mini really caught my eye. How clever that you can “braid” ribbon through the border punch! And how clever that there are two stamps that can be stamped on the punched border. I have used the dotted line stamp for this card. The new Stone 3D Embossing Folder available during Sale-a-Bration packs quite a punch with the deep etching. We keep the loveliness going by kissing the flowers and buds with a little Wink of Stella.

Beautifully Braided on Stone

I’m not well versed in flowers, so I don’t know what kind this is supposed to be. But that’s just fine because I can make them whatever color I want. This color combination is so pretty, I thought you might like a photo to Pin. The bold punch of Gorgeous Grape against the deep color of Blueberry Bushel, kept in control with the mellow Soft Sea Foam.

Faces of a Ladybug Waterfall RAK

I am part of a Facebook group that encourages creating our cards for others in Jesus’ name. You can call it a Random Act of Kindness (RAK) card. Each month there is a post that people can comment on providing the name and address of someone that could use some cheering up. One person had a special request for a relative. I will not disclose anything personal, but based on what I read, I knew an interactive, cheerful card was in order. That inspiration is shown here – a waterfall card with the many faces of a sweet little ladybug. I just know the recipient is going to love it and being able to bring a smile to someone’s face is the greatest blessing for me.

Honey Bee Joy Fold for the Joy of Sets January 2020 Blog Hop

January 2020It’s time for another The Joy of Sets Blog Hop and I am finally able to participate again. The last time was June…shame on me! Our theme for January is “Something New” and boy, oh boy, do I have some new things! I decided to use the Honey Bee Bundle on page 30 of the new Spring Mini along with the coordinating Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper I earned for free in the Sale-a-Bration brochure (page 10). I decided to use more fun, free goodies by also using the So Saffron/Gold Bakers Twine and Sequins from the combo pack available on page 7.

Honey Bee Joy Fold Front
When I put all the products in front of me, I just knew I wanted a fun fold for this card. I decided on the Joy Fold. It’s been a couple years since I made one and I don’t know why…it’s so quick and easy and really adds a lot. I made sure to use the Black Dimensionals for the bees and hive so you don’t see glaring white against the black and gold. I topped all the bees with Wink of Stella. Visit Splitcoast Stampers here for the Joy Fold tutorial.
