Snuggly Snowman

Have you seen the Let It Snow Suite on pages 18-21 of the Holiday Catalog? OMGoodness! Those little snowmen are so adorable! And what really takes the cake are the felt hats, scarves and mittens in the Embellishment Kit! I knew the moment I laid eyes on the suite that I was going to have snowmen Christmas cards this year! Here’s a snip from the catalog:

And here’s the adorable card I made last night. I stamped the snowman in Memento Tuxedo Black so I could use the Stampin Blends for the nose and slight blue shadow on the right side. I simply had to incorporate some felt pieces and the snowman is so happy to be keeping warm! I’ll be playing around with this suite for a bit, so I’m sure I’ll have some samples coming up that incorporate the Winter Knit 3D embossing folder as well as the Snowfall Accents Puff Paint.

A Country Recovery

Today’s card was created for the ever lovely Jean, who is laid up in a rehab facility, due to a broken femur.  She loves yellow and green so I naturally used those colors for the base and layers. I love the Tin Tile 3D Embossing Folder and knew it would make a gorgeous backdrop for the watering can by using Copper Foil. I kept the copper theme going with the embossing powder for the sentiment in the Healing Hugs set as well as the Designer Elements.

On this close-up, you can see how I used the new Snowfall Accents Puff Paint (available in the 2019 Holiday Catalog) to mimic cotton. I should have used a little bit more, but this was my first time using it and I didn’t want to go overboard. It makes for a very unique texture and I’m glad I gave it a try.

Natures Beauty Sneak Peek

This sweet doe is in a stamp set that may slip past you in the Holiday Catalog – it’s on the inside back cover and is called Nature’s Beauty. It’s part of the Stampin’ Up Making a Difference program and $3 of every sale goes toward mental health organizations.

I used Stampin’ sponges to sponge the background in Crumb Cake and Seaside Spray. I then stamped the doe in Early Espresso and colored her in with the Light & Dark Crumb Cake and Dark Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends. I finished the picture off with Mint Macaron grass and Crumb Cake bare bushes. I decided to forego any twine, ribbon or other embellishments and chose to die cut a couple leaves from the new Gathered Leaves Dies. The dies are awesome because they cut and emboss at the same time…and without any special shim! Look closely and you can see the Crumb Cake rectangle is cut out with the Stitched Rectangles Dies so there’s a little stitched border. I layered this onto a piece of Come To Gather Designer Series Paper and put it all onto a card base of Mint Macaron. Such a sweet card. I am so ready for fall!

Gather Together for a Harvest Hello Sneak Peek

Welcome to my happy place! I adore all things fall – sweater weather, pumpkins, Halloween movies, Thanksgiving, all the vibrant colors of the falling leaves. If Michigan could be submersed in autumn all year long, I would be such a happy person!  I am thrilled to share a sneak peek from the 2019 Holiday catalog that features two Harvest-themed sets plus an awesome Apple Builder punch that does double-duty as both an apple and a pumpkin!

I started this card by layering a couple of the Stitched Rectangles to make a frame. When I popped it up with foam tape, I made sure to leave a small space for the twine so there wouldn’t be a bump from the thickness of the twine. I stamped the sentiment directly onto the card front and the pumpkin and stem are stamped and punched out, while I fussy-cut the leaf. The pumpkin is popped up on Dimensionals. I finished off the front by using my bone folder to curl the twine the same way you use scissors to curl ribbon. Love it!

Jar of Pink Buffalo

Pretty catchy title for my post, isn’t it? I needed to show this photo to someone, so I was searching my previous posts. I was just so sure that I had already blogged it…but I guess not! So, here it is…in all it’s pink glory. I just love the Buffalo Check background stamp and I am tickled pink (haha…see what I did there?) that it is carrying over from the Holiday catalog! Yay!

Country Home with a Coastal Twist for the Joy of Sets October Blog Hop

Here’s a close up of the flowers so you can get a better view of the Wink of Stella I added to them. The shimmer from that, along with the silver detail in both the Galvanized Clips and the Silver & Pool Party Baker’s Twine  really makes it stand out.

Tranquil Buffalo

Another first inking of a stamp from the Holiday Catalog. This Buffalo Check background stamp is so much fun! It reminds me of all the plaid flannel shirts my dad had. And I’m going to take a brief moment to show one of my favorite photos of my 3 children and my niece. We were visiting my niece and all 4 of them just happened to put on plaid shirts the same day! Kinda scary, huh?

This card is a quick and easy one that will have no problems being sent to a friend in Canada. I try to make cards as flat as possible when sending them outside the U.S. To keep it special, I added some of the silver stars from the Twinkle Adhesive Backed Sequins pack. I love doubling up on the Happy Birthday die cut and having the bottom dark color off-set to look like a shadow.

Grandma’s Galvanized Country Home

My stamp club met last night. I knew I wanted to share my love of the Country Home suite with them, so this is the card I had them make. I had not used the Galvanized Metallic Paper prior to making this card…and WOW! I wish I had opened the package sooner! It is absolutely gorgeous! Using the Tin Tile Dynamic Embossing Folder is awesome, too. It reminds me of an old-fashioned kitchen backsplash you’d see in Grandma’s farm house!

Frosty Tiles & Winter Trees

I am so excited about all the fun new products in this year’s 2018 Holiday Catalog! When I spied the Tin Tile Dynamic Embossing Folder, I knew it would be mine. The Winter Woods bundle, though, was not on my radar…until Miss Hunter said I needed it because the trees are different than the trees in the sets I already have. She’s such an enabler! I am so glad I did, though, because she is absolutely right…and who doesn’t love it when there are coordinating dies so there’s no need to fussy-cut?

Another new product that caught my eye is the Shimmer Paint. If you flip through the catalog too quickly, you just might miss it on page 38. There are 4 colors to choose from. I picked Frost White, but I am most definitely adding the other colors to my list! I shook the bottle, then used a sponge dauber and tapped it into the lid so I wouldn’t get too much paint on it. I sponged it onto the background layer after embossing it with the Tin Tile.

I am all-around thrilled with this card and the blending of two bundles – Farmhouse Christmas on pages 12-13 and Winter Woods on page 27.
