Mirror Image Technique with Feathered Friends

One of my Stamp Club members asked for me to teach them the Mirror Image Technique. If you know me, then you know I went on a YouTube viewing frenzy trying to find the best way to create a mirror image of a stamp…and it paid off! After hours of pouring through different technique videos and trying each one out myself, I finally found the one that produces the best image transfer. A huge thank you to France Martin for this video: https://youtu.be/j4uwbKN7TIU

I decided to have my clubbies do the mirror image with the birds from Bella & Friends. The smaller parrot was part of the stamp that includes the dog with the balloon, so I confidently cut the stamp apart so I could have the little bird separate (see the cutting line in my photo below). So much easier! I used to be scared to cut my stamps apart…but now I rarely hesitate.

Bella Stamp Set

I knew I wanted to highlight the gorgeous paper in the Garden Impressions 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper Stack and I wanted summery, fun colors. Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight and Pool Party were super fun together and make a very cheerful all-occasion card. I’m so glad we have Stampin’ Blends in those same colors, too!

Tip of the Day: When using a Dynamic Embossing Folder, be sure to use a Stampin’ Spritzer to lightly spritz both sides of cardstock with water before running it through the Big Shot. This step will prevent cracking of the cardstock from the deep impression.

Birdhouse Birthday

These little birdhouses are the most darling little things. And the sweet birdie peeking out the window is adorable. I enjoyed coloring this with the Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. When I finished the focal point, i realized I needed texture in the background. I reached for the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Embossing Folder. The Dynamic folders are designed to leave a deep impression. I chose to run it through the Big Shot on platform 1 with just one acrylic plate on top to give it a softer look. I love it – and it doesn’t detract from the main image. Such a fun card!
