Rock Star Guitar

Apologies for not posting the past couple months…busy busy busy~then surgery in December. I’m healing nicely and ready to get back to regular card making and blog posting. Today’s card was made using the Rock n Roll Suite on pages 54-55 of the January to April 2024 Mini Catalog. I thought it was super fun to use vellum for the large guitar pick background. I knew I wanted to keep it black and white with one pop of color…couldn’t decide between Azure Afternoon or Tahitian Tide. Both would be equally bold, but Hunter decided on Azure Afternoon for me. Be sure to check out the mini catalog and don’t forget Sale-a-Bration is continuing through the end of February~for every $50 or $100 purchase, choose from a selection of FREE products! Below are the links to the brochure and the flyer with the add-ons available.

Stamp set: Rock Star
Cardstock: Azure Afternoon, Basic Black, Basic White, Vellum
DSP: Rock n Roll

Friendly reminder that I still have 2 spots open in the upcoming stamp club that starts this month! See the flyer below and let me know if you have any questions!

Today’s card uses products you probably already have on hand. Make one while you wait for your new goodies to arrive! The sentiment is from Biggest Wish, which I’m embarrassed to say I have had this set for quite a while, but this was the first time I inked it up. I love stamping the larger word in a pale background color and then the cursive one in a bold, bright color. Starry Sky really fits it here. Lots of texture going on between the embossing folder (Online Exclusive) and the pattern of the DSP along with the piercing on the label and added Wink of Stella on the flowers. Hope it makes you smile!

Card Recipe
Stamp Set: Biggest Wish
Cardstock: Fresh Freesia, Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, Starry Sky, Basic White
DSP: Dainty Flowers (ret)
Ink: Fresh Freesia, Starry Sky
Lovelies: Polished Dots (ret), Wink of Stella

Hummingbird in Grandpa’s Memory

Here’s another card using lots of retiring and retired products. Again, make sure you grab your favorites before they are sold out! There’s also a ton of goodies on the Last Chance list with savings of up to 60% off! Just remember, though, that once they are gone, they are gone for good!

I am in a Facebook group called The Joy of Sets. Each month, there is a challenge. April’s challenge is to add a bird. My Grandpa Arent loved hummingbirds, so this is a tribute to him. I decided to use a little bit of the Dainty Flowers Designer Series Paper to peek out from behind the flowers and sentiment. The DSP was a Sale-a-Bration item and is no longer available, but if you place an order and use my current Host code, I will send you a sampler as a thank you! To place an order, visit http://www.stampinup.com and select me as your demonstrator. Use Host Code UQZHGJND at checkout and I will send you the sampler! (Code valid until April 28, 2023)

The stamp set I used is a retired Sale-a-Bration set called A Touch of Ink. It’s a lovely 2-Step set. I stamped the solid detail outlines in full color. When adding the lighter background, I inked up the stamps and stamped once onto scrap before stamping onto the outlines. These stamps did not have coordinating dies, so I used paper snips to cut them all out. I glued down the leaves and popped up the flowers and hummingbird with Dimensionals. The background is embossed with the Woodgrain folder, but if you don’t have that one, there are several other wood styles you could use. I finished it off with a couple Brushed Metallic Dots and an adorable Bumblebee Trinket. Since I made this for The Joy of Sets challenge, I plan on sending it out to one of the people in The Joy of Sets RAK (Random Acts of Kindness) group. Both groups are private, so if you’re interested in knowing more, let me know!

Hey, Friend and Goodbye Razz & Zazz

The color refresh has been announced and we’ll be saying goodbye to some wonderful favorites including Rich Razzleberry and Pear Pizzazz. As I was removing the colors from my ink caddy, I sighed. I love the new colors, but I’m still going to miss the old ones. I made sure I bought a pack of cardstock for all the colors. Make sure you grab your favorites before they are sold out! There’s also a ton of goodies on the Last Chance list with savings of up to 60% off! Just remember, though, that once they are gone, they are gone for good!

I wanted to ink up a stamp set I hadn’t used yet, so Dainty Delight it is! There are so many lovely samples I’ve seen with it and I love the dies and the Dainty Flowers Designer Series Paper that coordinates.

This card has a full background layer (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) that I embossed with the retired Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. If you don’t have that one in your stash, use any that has a subtle texture. The next layer is from the Dainty Flowers DSP. I love the watercolor look and feel. I added a sprig die cut from Pear Pizzazz and next is the gold Simply Elegant Trim (comes in a twin pack with silver, too). Topped that with a die cut that I stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with Stampin’ Blends. Topped all the flowers with Wink of Stella and added the sentiment and Opal rounds. I really like how pretty this card is. However, the next one I think I’ll emboss the sentiment in white on the dark cardstock and then die cut (omitting the oval punch). What do you think?

What a super fun bundle! Who doesn’t love a yummy milkshake? Dairy-free even! Here you have your choice of a tall milkshake or a sundae dish. Reminds me of my younger years back in the 70s and 80s going to Woolworths. I loved the French Vanilla ice cream. Such fond memories. I wanted to keep it whimsical with the colors. Fresh Freesia and Bermuda Bay play so nicely together. And of course I had to add some Wink of Stella to the hearts.

This set has great sentiments that can be used all year round. Perfect for Birthdays and all types of accomplishments!

Zoey’s Sweet Songbirds Shadow Box Card

It’s my niece’s Birthday today and I enjoy making fun, interactive cards for her each year. I was contemplating my choices this time around (cause you can never use the same type of interactive card twice) and decided on the Shadow Box dies from Lawn Fawn. Next I had to decide what theme to use. I wanted bright, cheerful colors for this tutu-loving child and knew the current In Colors would be perfect. I then decided to use the Sweet Songbirds stamp set with matching Songbird Builder Punch (you can purchase the punch, but it is currently a Sale-a-Bration reward, too) and do some fussy cutting along the way. And that is how Zoey’s Sweet Songbirds Shadow Box card came to be. Happy 7th Birthday, Zoey!

Can’t forget the matching envelope!

Card Recipe
Stamp Set: Sweet Songbirds
Cardstock: Early Espresso, Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide, Basic White
Ink: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Parakeet Party, Sweet Sorbet, Tahitian Tide, Memento Tuxedo Black

Marigold Thanks Fun Fold

I used to tell people that I’m not a flower kinda girl. But who am I kidding? I guess I need to admit to the world that I am because I absolutely adore these Marigolds! They are two-step stamping, which means I stamped the detailed stamp in the darker color (Coastal Cabana) and the background in the lighter color (Balmy Blue). The Balmy Blue is lighter than usual because I inked it up, stamped once on scratch paper, then onto the detailed stamp.

I have been obsessed with this fun fold, too, to be able to show off both sides of this fantastic Designer Series Paper called Dandy Designs (from the Sale-a-Bration brochure). You can select it as your free gift with a purchase of $100. It consists of 48 full sized 12″ x 12″ sheets. I feel like the Scalloped Contours Dies are perfect for this layout. Finished it off with perfectly coordinated Glossy Dots and violá! C’est magnifique!

Card Recipe
Stamp Set: Marigold Moments
Cardstock: Coastal Cabana, Basic White
DSP: Dandy Designs (SAB)
Ink: Balmy Blue, Coastal Cabana, Granny Apple Green
Lovelies: Glossy Dots Assortment

Friendly Turtle Thank You

I always make thank you cards for my customers and today I will be delivering orders to my club members. I decided to play “This or That” with Hunter, so we ended up with Playing in the Rain stamp set, Fun Fold, Pastels, and originally she’d picked ribbon, but I couldn’t figure out a good way to incorporate it, so I made the executive decision to change it up with the butterflies instead. Such a super cute card that can stand up and be seen! This bundle is part of the larger Rain or Shine Suite that also includes a rain embossing folder, the Specialty DSP I’ve used here, and Loose Daisy Embellishments. I’m saving those for a shaker card! You can see the entire suite at work with samples on pages 50-51 of the January – April 2023 mini catalog.

Zesty Lemons

I am beside myself with how amazing the Sweet Citrus Hybrid bundle is…not only can you use the 3D Embossing Folder or dies individually, but you can use them AT THE SAME TIME, too! The embossing adds so much texture and detail. The design is perfect for your choice of lemons, limes, oranges or grapefruit. The bundle is showcased on page 49 of the January – April Mini Catalog. I also decided to use the new Specialty Vellum Basics in the same catalog along with the Dainty Flowers DSP that I earned free from the Sale-a-Bration brochure. I added some ribbon and pearls from the Annual Catalog to finish it off. The best of all worlds!
