Classic Class of 2019

I was commissioned to make a card for a college graduate. Back when my middle child graduated High School, Stampin’ Up! offered a “Class of 2015” stamp. Obviously after using it for that occasion, it started collecting dust. I spied it and thought, “Hey! I should cut the stamp apart!” And that is what I did. I finally thought outside the box. I also decided to use gold foil for the year and I think it is a great fit with this card. I used a little-known die from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits collection that cuts a series of small circles. Using this on the gold foil paper made the circles look like metal brads and I just love the effect! The Take Your Pick Tool was a lifesaver in picking up those little circles and placing them on the glue dots.

Life is Grand with Crackle and Sparkle

I asked Hunter to help me design the card my club would be making because she designs such pretty cards. I told her the main stamp set I wanted to use (Life is Grand) and she put together this beauty – background stamp (Crackle Paint), the springy colors (Grapefruit Grove & Mango Melody), the Sale-a-Bration ribbon, the Rectangle Stitched Framelits. I added the sequins, of course. Because I have been on a sequin frenzy lately. I can’t get enough of them! Thank you, Hunter, for not only designing the card, but being a guest at last night’s club meeting!

Sequins Make Life Grand, Dear Friend

I was so excited to discover that my pre-order would be delivered a day early! As soon as I got home from work yesterday, I dug in to check out all the fun goodies…and I was not disappointed! All products from the 2019 Occasions catalog and Sale-a-Bration brochure will be available beginning January 3, 2019. Here are the stamp sets I received today:

Preorder Stamp Sets
The Happiness Blooms Designer Series Paper is bold, bright, and perfectly happy.  I must admit that I have not reached for the Pineapple Punch cardstock in a few months. But with it being a main color in the DSP, I quickly reached for it and I’m so glad I did.  I decided to make 3 cards using the same colors. You’ll get to see the other two in the next two days.

Calypso Pineapple Mambo
Today’s card features a large sentiment from the Life Is Grand set. The set is a DistINKtive set, which means the ink stamps in different intensities to allow for the look of shadowing and natural shading. Simply perfect! Here’s the card:

I want you to look closely at the die cutting…the new Rectangle Stitched Framelits emboss the stitching on both the die cut as well as the negative. I took a side photo, hoping that you can see that I die cut out the larger rectangle from the DSP before adhering it to the card. I then die cut out the sentiment with the next size smaller rectangle and popped it up on Dimensionals.

I added Poppy Parade Mini Striped Ribbon. It’s like the chameleon of ribbon as the striping makes it look like Melon Mambo on this card. I then finished it off  with the Iridescent Sequin Assortment. It was a quick and job since I used the Take Your Pick Tool to easily pick up one at a time and pop them on with glue dots. Love!

Stay tuned to see the other two cards in upcoming posts. In the meantime, I’ll be working on more cards that feature both upcoming Occasions and Sale-a-Bration products! I think my next batch will include the Sale-a-Bration Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack that is FREE with a product order of $50. Yes! You’ll receive all 5 colors!

Wishing You Merlot Glimmer Greetings

The stamp set used on today’s card is called Wishing You Well. It’s hidden on page 35 of the Holiday catalog. I say “hidden” because it’s one of those sets that I skimmed right past without really looking at it. Most likely because of the quiet tones used in the sample. But, as it usually goes with me, I started seeing such pretty cards online. The more ideas I saw, the more I wanted it. And so it goes…

Wishing You Well is part of Stampin’ Up!’s line of Distinktive Stamps. These stamps create different opacities in a single stamped image for realistic depth and intensity. This really shines through with the organza style bow. Simply beautiful and so easy to achieve! Another nice feature of this stamp set is that it can be used all year round – the sprig can be stamped in Crushed Curry to resemble wheat or it can be stamped in any shade of green and bright flowers can be added. So many possibilities with this one beautiful set!
Wishing You WellI decided to go bold with this card and I must say I am absolutely smitten with the gorgeous, deep tones of the Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper. It brings such a richness to any project. The Joyous Noel Suite can be found on pages 28-29. I initially ordered just the glimmer paper from this suite, but since then have also ordered the coordinating Specialty Designer Series Paper, Merry Merlot & Copper Ribbon, and the Sprig Punch. Can’t wait to get those in my hands! But, since I don’t have those products yet, I decided to use the Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper, which is part of the suite on pages 12-13.
Wishing You Merlot Glimmer Greetings
I also chose to use the Metallic Pearls as the perfect details for the wreath. They are tiny, but easy to add to the project with our Take Your Pick tool using the spatula option.
Take Your Pick ToolThis is such a quick and easy card – no Big Shot necessary, as the bow is fussy-cut by hand the circle is a punch. Now you have no excuses not to send out hand-made-with-love cards this season. I hope you’ve had a chance to look through the Holiday catalog and get some of the products into your hands – Christmas will be here in 53 days!

Bushel of Healing Hugs

There’s a sweet lady I know that, unfortunately, needed surgery. Before I even sat down at my craft table to create her a card, I knew I wanted to use the Healing Hugs stamp set. I also knew I wanted the rose to be stamped in Blueberry Bushel. I was inspired by a bold card I had spotted online. I decided to pair it with a very pale green for the leaves to help intensify the already brilliant blue. I had just received the Tufted Dynamic Embossing Folder from my beautiful man in brown (UPS driver) earlier that day and thought it would be just lovely as the background texture.

Bushel of Healing Hugs

I colored the Pearl Basic Jewels with my Dark Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends marker. Usually I struggle to remove the jewels with my paper snips or paper piercer, trying to make sure the adhesive on the back comes off with the jewels and doesn’t stick to the paper backing. Let’s talk about this for just a moment. This time, I used the new Take Your Pick tool and it was a dream! This new multipurpose tool includes a piercer, stylus and putty to pick up small items…and a spatula! The spatula slipped right under my pearls and I am tickled pink! You simply MUST get one! Here’s a quick 3 minute YouTube video that shows all the bells and whistles:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nihh0cc81pU&feature=youtu.be
