I apologize for the length of time since my last upload. Things have been chaotic around here, to say the least. Life marches on, however, and the clock was ticking down to get my swap cards out. I knew I wanted to participate in the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge. It’s the first time I planned to contribute…the perfect challenge to join in on. It’s the WWC116 – Kath’s Masculine “Anything Goes” Challenge. Unfortunately, the challenge closed yesterday evening. That’s ok, though, because sometimes we just need a little nudging to get our creative juices flowing, right? So here’s my “Color Challenge” to inspire you:Sometimes the hardest part of putting a card together is just deciding on colors. I went with a few of my favorites…blues and green. Once I picked my colors, the rest of the card came together quite quickly. It was nice being able to just stamp for an hour. The die used to cut out the sentiment is from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits collection. It is a perfect fit – with just enough room for an enamel shape! Between the enamel shape and the Burlap Ribbon, they are spot-on embellishments for a masculine card. And I love the finishing touch of adding the anchor to the envelopes, too!
Stamp Set: Guy Greetings

P.S. All the items used will be carrying over into the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog!

I had a wonderful time seeing Marcus on Friday and Saturday. I’m so thankful he was flying out of Midway instead of O’Hare so we were able to connect with him before his flight out. I made a card that matched the door banner and slipped the card in his carry-on suitcase, along with a letter that Hunter wrote him. I wanted him to find it when he arrived at his new barracks. Darn that airport security! He had to unpack the suitcase for them and he saw them. That’s o.k., though. I told him not to open them until he was in South Carolina. I’ve already been able to speak to him a couple times (he’s on Liberty today), which makes this transition much easier. I don’t like him being so far away, but at least I can hear his voice now! My layout was inspired by this week’s Pals Paper Arts 316 sketch challenge (PPA316).

Tomorrow is the day! Marcus’ Pass-in-Review from the Navy Boot Camp will be happening at 9:00 CT and I am so ready to see my son! I’ll have him for the day, so I thought it would be fun to make a celebratory banner for the hotel room. I was smart and booked a bedroom suite so there’s an actual living room to relax and socialize in. I wanted to keep the banner CAS (Clean And Simple) since that seems to be the style that Marcus likes. I wanted to keep with the Navy colors, but just couldn’t bring myself to use gold…didn’t seem quite masculine enough. So, Kraft to the rescue! OMGoodness! I’m so excited! I will be sure to bring a whole box of tissues! (P.S. Don’t laugh at my shadow on the photo…I laid the banner out on the floor and didn’t realize I was in my own way!)
