Anchor Greetings

I apologize for the length of time since my last upload. Things have been chaotic around here, to say the least. Life marches on, however, and the clock was ticking down to get my swap cards out. I knew I wanted to participate in the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge. It’s the first time I planned to contribute…the perfect challenge to join in on. It’s the WWC116 – Kath’s Masculine “Anything Goes” Challenge. Unfortunately, the challenge closed yesterday evening. That’s ok, though, because sometimes we just need a little nudging to get our creative juices flowing, right?  So here’s my “Color Challenge” to inspire you:Dapper Garden MarinaSometimes the hardest part of putting a card together is just deciding on colors. I went with a few of my favorites…blues and green. Once I picked my colors, the rest of the card came together quite quickly. It was nice being able to just stamp for an hour.  The die used to cut out the sentiment is from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits collection. It is a perfect fit – with just enough room for an enamel shape! Between the enamel shape and the Burlap Ribbon, they are spot-on embellishments for a masculine card. And I love the finishing touch of adding the anchor to the envelopes, too!

Blushing Valentine

I wanted to give my Stampin’ Club members sweet little Valentine goodies to thank them for being in my club. I realized the sentiment “You’re the sweetest” from the Sale-a-Bration set Tasty Trucks was perfect! I kept it soft and sweet with the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper in the background. Hunter told me a great tip when it comes to using embellishments like the little pearls. She said that our eyes find it more visually appealing when things are in the shape of a triangle. So, when I added the pearls, I put them into a triangular layout…and I think she’s right!  It gives it a great balance.  I used punches for the sentiment and the tag top, framelits for the circle and thinlits for the hearts. Punching and die cutting makes everything easy and fun, the only thing left to do was to put a couple yummy cookies into cellophane bags and attach the tags!

Candy Cane Christmas Bag Card

I apologize for the length of time since my last post. I was crazy busy putting samples together and getting organized for the Mystery Hostess Party I did last Saturday. Everyone seemed to have fun, so I will call it a success! One of the samples I made is this fun card that shows off the Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper. The Mini Treat Bag Thinlits are super fun – I love all the extra dies that come with it, including the banner and heart dies I used on the front.  With the Magnetic Platform on the Big Shot, I was able to carefully center the heart die to cut the candy cane design just where I wanted it.  The Real Red Enamel Shapes from the Brights collection give it little pops of shine.  The top corners of the pull out card are rounded using the corner rounder punch on the top of the Envelope Punch Board. Sometimes we forget about those tools when they are tucked away. So glad I dusted it off for some of my recent projects!
