I’m part of a swapping group called #imbringingbirthdaysback and I needed to make a card to send to one of the participants in Canada. Since it’s out of the country, it’s best to try and stay away from bulky cards. I decided to make a watercolor background and stamp the flower from Artistically Asian right onto it. It’s so far out of my comfort zone since I am all about dimension and layers. I wish I could merge these two cards into one – I love the bolder watercolor background, but like the look of the other one with the Copper Trim wrapped around 3 times. I stepped it up with a few random In Color Enamel Shapes and some Wink of Stella on the flower. I also decided to heat emboss the sentiment with Copper Embossing Powder on the lower right corner, but it’s difficult to see in the picture. Can you spot the new products? I’m super excited about all the new goodies! I also love this color combo of Flirty Flamingo, Fresh Fig, and Copper. I think I’ll be using this combo again!

For this month’s stamping club card, I knew I wanted to use my favorite Dragonfly Dreams bundle, but I wanted to give it a pop of color. Bermuda Bay works beautifully with the set and the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper. Hunter mentioned to me last night that I seem to be leaning more towards sequins these days instead of ribbon. I think she’s right – I love the sparkle of the sequins, but they do not detract from the main image on the card. These items are available now in the Stampin’ Up Occasions Catalog (click on the link below).

I have been so anxious to share this card with all of you! So, this is the “Orange Peel” technique that Stampin’ Up shared at Convention:
- Stamp your design on Watercolor Paper.
- Using a Stampin’ Spritzer, lightly spritz with plain water. Just 2 or 3 full spritzes unless you want the colors to run more.
- Pour on Clear Embossing Powder and shake off the excess. Since we’re covering the entire piece, there is no need for the Embossing Buddy.
- Using the Heat Tool on the high setting, melt the embossing powder. Hold the heat tool at an angle and you can see the ripples forming!
As a few of my club members mentioned, this technique is perfect for water! I can’t wait to try that next!
