Crafty Turnabout Birthday

I have a coworker that routinely requests special cards for people. I love making them because she always gives me ideas of the recipient’s likes and hobbies. (And it doesn’t hurt that she always so graciously says she loves my cards.) This card is for a fellow Stampin’ Up Demonstrator, so we decided to go the crafty route. I really wanted to use the Concord & 9^th Crafty Turnabout stamp set and coordinating dies. I used a Turnabout stamp once before. You can see that blog post here. It is so neat how you ink it up and stamp it 4 times, turning it between each color. You can learn more about them here. We decided we would trick her by using non-SU stamps and dies on the front. I hope she likes it!

Proud Mosaic Turnabout

I just discovered the stamp company Concord & 9^th and their awesome Turnabout stamps. I could never explain them correctly, so I’m just going to give you the link to them:  https://concordand9th.com/collections/turnabouts

This card features the Mosaic Turnabout that I stamped in Blueberry Bushel, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso and Sahara Sand. My friend had shared this photo of birds online and I was inspired by the beautiful colors and just had to make a card with them. And before you comment, yes. I know they are photo-shopped, but it doesn’t matter. Color inspiration can come from anywhere!

I adore this bold sentiment, which is from the Stampin’ Up Annual catalog set called Friendly Expressions. It is perfect with the Layered Circles Framelits and the Stitched Shapes Framelits and I didn’t feel any other embellishments were necessary. I popped the circle layers up on Dimensionals for added effect. I hope a certain someone living on a certain ship likes it!

Hummingbird Thank You

I always like to include a card with orders I receive.  I wanted to do a soft, CAS (Clean and Simple) card. I settled on the Picture Perfect stamp set.  It’s been collecting dust because doing 4-step stamping can be very intimidating. They are by no means perfect, but I think the hummingbird is lovely. It is perfectly sized on the Whisper White Notecards, which are 5″ x 3/5″.  I love the hazy effect of sponging Soft Sky and Pear Pizzazz for the background. The colors I used for each of the steps are:
1. Smoky Slate
2. Wild Wasabi
3. Marina Mist (stamped off once)
4. Marina Mist
