Battle of the Pearls vs. Rhinestones

There are a lot of card samples roaming the internet where people used Basic Jewels for the lights on the marquee. I couldn’t decide which to use, so I made 3 cards – one using medium pearls, one with medium rhinestones and one with large rhinestones. Hunter’s vote is for the pearls. I’m battling between the medium rhinestones and pearls. What do you think?  Regardless of which one you prefer, I think we can all agree that the 3 In Colors I used are absolutely ice-cream delicious! Look closely and you may see the shimmery Wink of Stella on the “It’s Your” and the two sparkles, too.

Anchor Greetings

I apologize for the length of time since my last upload. Things have been chaotic around here, to say the least. Life marches on, however, and the clock was ticking down to get my swap cards out. I knew I wanted to participate in the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge. It’s the first time I planned to contribute…the perfect challenge to join in on. It’s the WWC116 – Kath’s Masculine “Anything Goes” Challenge. Unfortunately, the challenge closed yesterday evening. That’s ok, though, because sometimes we just need a little nudging to get our creative juices flowing, right?  So here’s my “Color Challenge” to inspire you:Dapper Garden MarinaSometimes the hardest part of putting a card together is just deciding on colors. I went with a few of my favorites…blues and green. Once I picked my colors, the rest of the card came together quite quickly. It was nice being able to just stamp for an hour.  The die used to cut out the sentiment is from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits collection. It is a perfect fit – with just enough room for an enamel shape! Between the enamel shape and the Burlap Ribbon, they are spot-on embellishments for a masculine card. And I love the finishing touch of adding the anchor to the envelopes, too!

Llama Hat Dance

I just got back from a wonderful week-long visit with my niece and her family. I showed her my post of a different card I had made with the Festive Birthday Suite (you can see that blog post here).  As soon as I told her there was a llama in the set, she got so excited. So, naturally, I had to make her a llama card when I got back home.  I thought it would be fun to cut one of the little sombreros out of the Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper and put it on the llama all sassy-like.  I also paper-pieced the blanket on the llama. I am loving this collection of products!

Seaside Fun!

My beautiful man in brown delivered my fun box today! Lots of fun stamp sets, Designer Series paper, tools and embellishments from the new Annual Catalog! Here’s a fun card that showcases all the new 2016-2018 In Colors. I decided to feature a couple items from the By The Shore suite (pages 92-93).  I’m sure I’ll be sharing more cards using this super fun suite!  Another super-convenient tool used on this card are the Layering Squares Framelits.  Look closely…you can see a tiny rim of itty bitty scallops around the squares. Love! I know I’m going to get a lot of use out of this Seaside embossing folder, too. Love the flowing lines…great for “sea” scenes as well as providing the illusion of motion for lots of other card backgrounds.

Growing Up Loved…and the Catalog is LIVE!

I am so beyond excited that the Stampin’ Up 2016-2017 Annual Catalog is now LIVE!  All my stampin’ peeps can order ’till their hearts are content!  I am participating in several swaps with other demonstrators. Today I’m sharing with you one of them.  It combines the wildly popular Lovely As A Tree, which is the longest running stamp set, with Suite Sayings, which was introduced in the 2016 Occasions catalog and happily made it into the annual catalog!  I kept this card clean and simple, to highlight the beautiful Sweet Sugarplum:

Oh Happy Day! Club Thank You Cards

My club members’ orders were delivered yesterday by that beautiful man in brown…and I happily settled in to my crafting area to make their Thank You cards. I don’t know how it is for you, but stamping relaxes me so much and simply makes me happy 🙂  I decided to make 3” x 3” cards so I could use the Playful Palette Designer Series Paper Stack and make matching envelopes. I added gold metallic thread and sequin trim for sparkle…and they turned out super cute!  The only problem I had was deciding which sentiment to use in Thoughtful Banners – there are so many! And I just love the fact that the stamp set is photopolymer. I was able to bend the words into a curved shape so it would nicely fit the banners.  Another bonus to the clear photopolymer is that I had punched out 3 of the banners and then decided I wanted to stamp the outline on them. No sweat! Since I can see right through the stamps, there was no problem lining them up!  Love that we can buy the stamp set and punch together as a bundle and save 10%, too!

Painter’s Thoughtful Wishes – Sneak Peek!

My beautiful man in brown (UPS driver) brought me a box today. Now, this was no ordinary box. It was a Stampin’ Up box. And this was no ordinary Stampin’ Up box. THIS WAS MY PRE-ORDER BOX! This innocuous box contained all the NEW 2016-2018 IN COLORS ink, cardstock and ribbon along with some stamp sets, a punch and Designer Series Paper!  All these items AND MORE will be available for you to purchase starting June 1st.  In the meantime, have a look-see at the 5 fun Birthday cards I made this evening that showcase the GORGEOUS new In Colors:  Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum! Notice the adorable scalloped square that the sentiment is layered on. Stampin’ Up has introduced new layering framelits that have both straight edges and scalloped edges. Love!  The paper stack, washi tape and Painter’s Palette stamp set are all part of the Playful Palette Suite of perfectly coordinated products. The adorable banner on the top left is an awesome bundle of the Thoughtful Banners and Duet Banner punch. This is what I love so dearly about Stampin’ Up! Everything goes together like tofu and nooch!
