Best Birds Quartet

A friend of mine is hosting a fundraiser and I offered to donate a set of hand-made cards for the silent auction. I adore the Best Birds bundle and had my stamp club make the same card last week. I actually CASE’d (Copy And Share Everything) myself from back in December (you can see that post here). Instead of using Shimmer White Cardstock for the birds like I did back in December, I used Watercolor paper. I also decided to change up the color scheme and go with softer colors. One of my clubbies mentioned adding Wink of Stella to the wings, so that’s what I did with this set…gives it that shimmery extra accent that works beautifully with the bird. Thanks, Linda!

Jar of Flowers for Mother’s Day

It’s pretty obvious who this card was given to today. My mother is a wonderful woman that is always there for me. I love her tremendously! She bought me the Jar of Love bundle for Christmas last year, so I thought it would be fun to use it for her. Yellow, green and blue are her favorite colors and I threw a splash of pink in there for good measure. It was a little time consuming with all the die cutting, but she is totally worth it!

Squeals for the New In Colors!

Oh My Goodness! The new catalog will be released on June 1st and I am so excited to share the new 2017-2019 In Colors with you! This is a super fun collection and Stampin’ Up has really hit the trendy mark with these – I’m seeing these colors everywhere! From nail polish…to clothing…to pillows…to even an SUV that is Lemon Lime Twist! I got my hands on all these fun new goodies yesterday and had to dive right in. The Happy Birthday Thinlit cuts the cardstock beautifully when you use the Precision Base Plate and Die Brush. You will be able to purchase the thinlit and matching stamp set, Happy Birthday Gorgeous, as a bundle when the catalog goes live. And don’t even get me started on these FELT Bitty Bows! YES! FELT! They are beyond DARLING!  And what do you think about my background design? It’s as simple as putting 25 drops of Ink Refill into a Stampin’ Spritzer and filling it the rest of the way with rubbing alcohol. Then you just spritz a little bit! Since I used rubbing alcohol, it dries super fast.

And now to introduce our newest colors, from the top left going clockwise: Tranquil Tide, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst and Powder Pink. I’m having a tough time deciding on my absolute fave…it’s between Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist. Oh…but I really like Tranquil Tide, too! And Powder Pink! And Fresh Fig! I’m so glad I have 2 whole years to use these beauties!

Baby Bear for Autum Kaye

We went to visit my newest little niece yesterday – Autum Kaye. Just 10 days old! What a sweet baby!  Here’s the congratulations card I made the new parents. I am so pleased with it – Baby Bear is simply darling and perfect to welcome a new little life. I have my friend Stephanie to thank for the idea of making a square card. I hadn’t made one in quite a while, but she recently made a baby card that was square…inspiration! And a big thank you to Stampin’ Up for making the bow in the Holly Berry Builder punch match the Baby Bear bow.

Battle of the Pearls vs. Rhinestones

There are a lot of card samples roaming the internet where people used Basic Jewels for the lights on the marquee. I couldn’t decide which to use, so I made 3 cards – one using medium pearls, one with medium rhinestones and one with large rhinestones. Hunter’s vote is for the pearls. I’m battling between the medium rhinestones and pearls. What do you think?  Regardless of which one you prefer, I think we can all agree that the 3 In Colors I used are absolutely ice-cream delicious! Look closely and you may see the shimmery Wink of Stella on the “It’s Your” and the two sparkles, too.

I needed to make a couple cards this evening and knew I wanted to use Perfect Mix from the Occasions Catalog. Instead of standing in front of my cardstock for hours, I decided to let Hunter choose my color palette…and she picked a fun one!

Anchor Greetings

I apologize for the length of time since my last upload. Things have been chaotic around here, to say the least. Life marches on, however, and the clock was ticking down to get my swap cards out. I knew I wanted to participate in the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge. It’s the first time I planned to contribute…the perfect challenge to join in on. It’s the WWC116 – Kath’s Masculine “Anything Goes” Challenge. Unfortunately, the challenge closed yesterday evening. That’s ok, though, because sometimes we just need a little nudging to get our creative juices flowing, right?  So here’s my “Color Challenge” to inspire you:Dapper Garden MarinaSometimes the hardest part of putting a card together is just deciding on colors. I went with a few of my favorites…blues and green. Once I picked my colors, the rest of the card came together quite quickly. It was nice being able to just stamp for an hour.  The die used to cut out the sentiment is from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits collection. It is a perfect fit – with just enough room for an enamel shape! Between the enamel shape and the Burlap Ribbon, they are spot-on embellishments for a masculine card. And I love the finishing touch of adding the anchor to the envelopes, too!

P.S. All the items used will be carrying over into the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog!
